SFS Contest Picture of the Day Week 15
Introduction |
---|
Today happens to be one of those mornings where the cool weather wants to make you stay in bed a little longer. Even after hearing the clock alarm from your phone, you feel like flinging it far from you. I wish I could call in sick as an excuse to stay at home. Unfortunately, it will take a big lie, like earthquake or volcanic eruption, before I’m allowed to stay at home and enjoy my sleep. So, if I don’t have any valid reasons for staying home, be rest assured, my sack letter will be as long as the scroll of the medieval times.
It was raining heavily this morning and it was determined to make things difficult. Even with the umbrella i carried, i was still soaked especially my trousers. I could feel the cold seep through my clothes. After taking a public transport that dropped me off some miles away from my office, the walk ahead seemed manageable until I saw a big flood, stretching as far as my eyes could see, blocking my pathway and dampening not just my shoes but my mood too.
The drainage system was filled up with dirts and have not been cleaned and deepened in a very long time, causing the water to rise and stagnate. I couldn’t enter such water with my shoes, I’d to pull it off before stepping foot into the murky water. In every movement i made, I was praying I don’t step on any sharp object or broken pieces of glass beneath the surface because with the dirts I saw floating around, that was the first thing that was making me hesitate to pull off my shoes.
As I trudged through the water, I noticed some cars were stuck in the flood, their owners as helpless as the rest of us. Seeing people going through all this stress just to earn a living reminds us that the way to success is not an easy journey. It’s filled with lots of difficulties but we don’t allow it stop us because we know we’re heading somewhere.
The flood may have dampened my spirit, but it doesn’t stop me from answering my call to duty. Making money isn’t easy but it’s these moments of discomfort that reminds us of our resilience required in everyday life. So, no matter what challenges might come away, we keep pushing forward.
I will be inviting @emmy01, @hannybanny and @blessb for the challenge…
