Thor Ragnarok/ Planet Hulk comic easter eggs
I few weeks ago I made some fan art of the Hulk in anticipation of the new Thor Ragnarok movie that was about to hit theaters. I just knew that they were influenced by the Planet Hulk comics when I saw the trailers for Thor Ragnarok. As stated below:
If you read comics at all, you can see the heavy influence that the Planet Hulk comics have on the new movie.
I just finished watching the movie about 2 hours ago and boy oh boy was there a lot of references and Easter eggs from the comics! So before I go any further....
SPOILER ALERT
Did you leave? OK good. This has spoilers for both the comics and the movie. You are warned.
Hulk
- Just about everything with hulk style wise was the same as planet hulk.
- His armor and helmet.
- He went through multiple weapons in the arena, all that he used in the comics, the HUGE axe (my favorite) and the giant hammer.
- He was aware of who he was as the hulk, and in full control
- He felt Earth hated him which was a key factor in Planet Hulk and World War Hulk
- He arrived on the planet just about the same way too
Sakaar
- This was the planet they were on
- They made the planet very similar it being the dumpsite for a wormhole(s)
- The scrappers finding, and taking things "first"
- A ruler who made people fight (Red King/The Grandmaster)
Korg and Miek
- These two were hulks "warbound pact" in the comics
- Korg indeed led a revolution to overthrow Sakaar, but was not quite as funny in the comics
- Miek indeed was about as pathetic in the comics as he was in the movies for a while
- If I remember correctly they also thought Miek was dead at one point in Planet Hulk
Valkyrie/Caiera
- This was the planet they were on
- They made the planet very similar it being the dumpsite for a wormhole(s)
- The scrappers finding, and taking things "first"
- A ruler who made people fight (Red King/The Grandmaster)
Korg and Miek

- If I remember correctly they also thought Miek was dead at one point in Planet Hulk
Valkyrie/Caiera
This one is not quite as straight forward but hear me out....
- Caiera is an elite female warrior serving the king of Sakaar whom she later betrays to help the heroes (sound familiar?)
- There was a small clip where her and Hulk were quite playful together, at least friends
Side note: Caiera also drew her powers from the planet itself much like Hela
Random
- Obedience disks were used in both
- Doctor Strange indirectly sent the main characters both to Sakaar. Hulk in Planet Hulk as head of the Illuminati banishing the Hulk for the Earths safety, and Thor and Loki by sending him abruptly to Odin which shortly after ended up in Sakaar (Also he sent Loki away for the Earths safety).
- Hulk head back to earth at the end (for two very different reasons haha)
I probably missed some. What other easter eggs did you find?
i like the art , keep sharing !
Haha a warrior hulk like it man :)
I yet have to see the movie. I think it will be awesome.
I am yet to watch the movie, but kind of sure that I will like it.
