I don't set New Years Resolutions
.... I never have, and never will
I've found over the years that goal setting isn't as simple as turning over a new leaf just because your calendar year changed. Why can't you start setting a huge goal on May 17th? December 22nd?
You can
So when your new years resolution inevitably falls way off course, I challenge you to stand back up, regain focus, and set a goal the right way
My goal setting strategies
Set short term, mid term, and long term goals
To me the least important of these goals are your LONG term
This is because they should be constantly be re-evaluated, and adjusted based on performance, and a constantly changing environment.
Instead you should shift your focus to your Mid term ( a few weeks or a month out) goal
Track your progress to this goal, you will be able to see progress towards this goal where you may not see much progress in terms of your long term. Lets look at some eth charts for comparison. Pretend it is your personal goal you are aiming for. Or your portfolio you are trying to grow.
2 WEEKS OF PROGRESS
This is ETH in middle of Jan, looks okay but nothing crazy
2 MONTHS OF PROGRESS
Same chart zoomed out, that is some growth you can see
6 MONTHS OF PROGRESS
That is some real serious growth, but if you looked at your two week chart compared to this there is no way you would think you are on track
Whats the point?
ZOOM IN
Get focused on smaller tangible goals for today, 1 week, 1 month.
This will help you stay on track, and less overwhelmed by the big picture
Inspiration and motivation are OVERRATED
There are zero people in this world with any degree of success who were complacent doing so. Most of the time you won't be motivated. Do it anyway.
Emotions have no place in achieving your goals
This sounds harsh, but understand, in a year you will not remember that one day you were feeling kind of exhausted and didn't feel like working out, or posting on steemit when you told yourself you would. If what you are feeling is not going to be valid in a year, then forget about it.
Spend your time as cautiously as you would spend your money.
Spend it on purpose. If you wouldn't spend half of your money frivolously don't spend half your time that way.
Your daily habits will make or break you.
Outliers by Malcom Gladwell is one of my favorite books on goal setting and daily habits. I highly recommend it.
PS. I hate motivational posts
There are so many new years resolutions posts that will not be fulfilled that I had to post something that might help people set some REAL TANGIBLE goals.
AMEN BROTHER. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GUIDANCE AND HELPING HAND.
For real if I ever make it here, I will pay you back 1 thousandfold. You and Acidyo are the only blogs I actually check out because you're beyond whoring money. People try too hard. If you make good content, the money will surely come; I look forward to our new year! Steem on!
Nice blog... Best wishes
