Can we create happiness in our surroundings by saying some good words?
We can create happiness just with words. Just ask those people who have been verbally abused.
It is a sad situation when some people use words to hurt others and this happens within families and in work places too.
Hurtful words, taunts, insults and outright obscene words are often shouted by a few at those who are vulnerable.
I myself have been at the receiving end of such abuse. At first I used to cry and start to wallow in self pity but then found that not many even bothered to comfort me. It was me alone. I found comfort in silent prayer and realized that no one needs to withstand abuse. This gave me strength and slowly, I stopped reacting and responding to taunts and insults.
When we ignore the abuser, it is the greatest insult to that person. The abuser will then realize that he/she cannot excite you or trouble you. just be unperturbed and go on with your life otherwise there will be time only for self pity, sadness, depression and so on.
Life is not a bed of roses and we cannot have everything we want all the time but if we speak softly and gently, it can create an atmosphere of happiness around us and people will always welcome our presence rather than shooing us off.
There are two ways to get things done:
a) Go get my shoes
b) Please can you pass me my shoes
Usually, the second command will have more impact than the first. Politeness and good manners go a long way in communication.
People who joke, laugh and speak exuberantly are loved more than those who always have a sour face.
I am not sure if my boss would ever bring the shoes if I use the word please. ... JK
But I think it there is also the environmental factors which affect your words and language too.
