Feeding the hungry
Feeding the homeless program and feeding small stomachs of the orphanage or the old age home inmates – this is one holy task which can absolve your sins directly. I do not preach about God and I do not pay to absolve sins but I do know that if you feed a hungry person, it is like feeding the almighty himself.

You like ice cream, well almost all people do. So, next time, you have a tad bit of extra money, do buy some ice cream and give it to small children in orphanages or those belonging to poor families. The enjoyment and the fun they have is sure to melt your heart. It is worth more than the joy you get by treating yourself alone. It is far worthier than a cruise even. We cannot do much to change the world overnight but we can sure buy some small treats and make people happy at least for some time. Believe me, they will remember it for a lifetime and those happy memories will protect you in times of need.

It is said in all scriptures of all religions that we should feed the homeless and poor. Why should we rely on some others to do it? Why not just prepare some sandwich packets and distribute it to people who need it?
It is never too late to start. We can also do our bit by donating online to charities who do provide necessary food and other stuff to needy people like the poor feeding programs sponsored by ISKCON and the Sri Sathya Sai Narayana Seva workers who have adopted entire villages and schools and feed the kids milk, food, and fruits.
It is far better to give to the needy than spend thousands or hundreds (money) on people who are rich like the celebrities and others stars who sell tickets for outlandish sums. It is time to wake up and realize that we have also to save the environment and so we should spend to save the planet by planting trees and plants. Planting fruit trees ensures that humans and animals and birds would get to eat fruits, later on.
