Why It's Necessary To Sometimes 'Treat Yourself'

Have you ever had that feeling that no matter how hard you try you just can't get your brain to function and do the multitude of activities in daily life? Do you ever feel that the cogs inside your head have just rusted and the whole system is on the verge of collapse?

Well, you are not alone. This happens to everyone and the reason is simple. We are biological beings and we have our limits. Heck, even mechanical stuff has its limits and is prone to breakdown from time to time.

Although the modern world requires us to keep pushing by any means necessary, we eventually and inevitably, burn out, both physically and mentally. That's why work fatigue is so common which in turn causes other wide range of physical and mental conditions.

That is why it is absolutely necessary (and might I add, fun) to take some time to just 'treat yourself'. No, this doesn't decrease your productivity, if that's what you're worried about. It actually increases it contrary to what we may think.

Treat Yourself!

Just like the many, many devices in our life, our bodies and mind need recharging as well. A break, if you will, from the routine work that we are used to that can get really mundane. The number one reason why we don't take breaks as often is because we tend to think it needs to be something big, like a vacation.

But that is only needed if you royally manage to screw yourself up by burning out completely. In most cases, little things, that you do regularly, will do just fine. Take for example a good, soul pleasing meal with a friend or even alone. Don't underestimate the happiness and soothing effect on the mind, that a plate of hot steamy dumplings can have!

Taking massages and other types of spas has an equally great effect on one's state of mind. This is persoanlly my favourite way of unwinding after a relatively stressful period of work. If you can, I would say twice a month at least, should keep you energised and relaxed.

For some people, shopping has an equally calming effect and buying things that make you happy would certainly take some of the stress off. Remember, the idea of 'treating yourself' is basically to just enjoy yourself. It could be sleeping the whole day once in a while, binge watching a show, a quick weekend trip, playing a sport, or the stuff I mentioned before. Just have fun regularly and life won't seem to have that much of a toll!
