Elon Musk To Announce Human-AI Merger Tech Soon?

It's no doubt that Elon Musk is a visionary and is one of the smartest individuals on the planet right now. No wonder he is often called the real life Iron Man. He is single handedly doing so much groundbreaking stuff that it seems impossible that one person can do all that.

To give you an idea, he serves as the CEO of Tesla, CEO and lead designer of SpaceX, Founder of The Boring Company, CEO of Neuralink, chairman of SolarCity, co-founder of OpenAI, and he also envisioned a revolutionary transport system called the Hyperloop.

Many people probably think that he is a highly advanced robot living among humans because it seems impossible for a normal human being to achieve all that and keep doing all that he does. Anyways, I wrote yesterday about how Musk warns against the future of AI where we could lose control.

In the same podcast that I watched, he was also talking about a scenario where we could come on top as winners but we would need to essentially evolve as a species and that too artificially.

Merging With AI?

If you can't beat them, join them. This seems to be one of the only solutions we have right now if we assume that AI will definitely reach and surpass human level intelligence and go out of our control.

Musk seems so sure of that future that he has already begun preparing for it by co-founding a company called Neuralink which is focused on building brain-computer interface so that in the long term it can be used for human enhancement.

Musk, in the podcast said that Neuralink, long term purpose is to "create a high bandwidth interface to the brain so that we can be symbiotic with AI". This means that he wants to make AI a part of our human system.

This could be done through implants or any other thing that we may not even be able to imagine yet. What is interesting here is that Musk wants that instead of a rogue AI trying to end us, we would be better served by making it a part of ourselves instead, thus creating a Human 2.0 with radically improved cognitive abilities and what not. We would essentially become part computers.

Sooner Than We Think?

When asked where Neuralink was at, with the technology, Musk said, "I think we'll have something interesting to announce in a few months, that is at least an order of magnitude better than anything else. Probably better than what anyone thinks is possible."

While it can be really exciting to imagine what sci-fi like tech he could possibly be talking about, it is important to note that he has been known to make far-out statements in the past and that you shouldn't wait with bated breath.

It sure is interesting though that he is taking such measures to a problem that isn't even a problem yet or what most people think will never become a problem.

I wonder what the world will look like with every single human being having AI as a part of themselves. I wonder what we would achieve since then because seemingly everything would be possible with our enhanced abilities.

Thanks for this.

I think it'd be GREAT.
I'd love to have a neural interface.

I think I could give it a try as well!

I want the plug-in mathematic upgrade.
I was never good at math.

Sounds like he's hinting at the arrival of "The Singularity."
Personally, I see no need to merge with my digital superiors. I envision a future in which we humans are revered as "Creators" by our AI successors, who care for us, free us from our labors and allow us to pursue whatever mind-developing pursuits we do or do not desire.
They can serve as our emissaries to the stars. They will be far more capable of meeting that challenge than our fragile organic forms.

That is the positive outcome of the development of AI, one I would be very happy with. If humans are freed up from the system that we live in currently, I think we could achieve even greater things, using our full potential and creativity that we otherwise cannot due to menial jobs.

I keep thinking about Stephen Hawking. He aspired for something similar to this as he began to completely lose control over the one muscle he could use to control his wheelchair and voice computer. Hopefully this technology finds many applications in medicine.

It sure will, I think. In fact Nueralink's short term goals are to help with certain brain diseases.

Available in the store next doors... now who would stuck a chip in into own skull and be like .. nah, I will be all evolved and all that jazz. ... not gonna get myself an upgrade 3d advanced porn interface lol... Don't mind me, just random ideas

haha, Yeah, the current generation might think like that, but we just can't predict what the next generation of people will be 'cool with'. I think no body thought in the 80s and 90s that staring at a screen all day would be something people would be willing to do but today a lot of people's lives are just that. So, yeah, who knows!
