I would really really love to understand why so much people are SO fixated with XRP. I just can't... It is not that it might be a great trade in the future, it is just that at the first signal of a possible movement that's the first and only coin that comes to their minds.

      Vladimir ‏ @bigvo013
These people explored more than TA. The idea of XRP is capturing and this is the reason why XRP community is so big.

      Crypto Joe Blow‏ @CryptoJoeBlow
People look at coinmarketcap, fail to understand marketcap, and see a top 10 coin for pennies, and think it will take the same path as Bitcoin...I can't tell you how many people have asked me verbatim, "do you think (insert coin here) will be worth as much as bitcoin one day.

      CryptoG.‏ @garrettBTCbrah
It used to have high volume was easy to trade get in and out etc. Liquidity issues have been the biggest hurdle. Its crazy. Sometimes i have to wait 30 mins before i can get out of position in some coins that used to take me 2-3 seconds. Everyones been rekt and noones trading

Bearish breakdown in XRP and the hourly sell set ups in LTC XLM ETH and ZRX may be warning of BTC weakness later (Friday night special). An hourly close below 6497 in BTCUSD would be a warning sign.

UPbit, South Korea's biggest crypto exchange, recorded a quarterly profit of $100 million in a bear market.
Many investors in South Korea did see large losses by investing in the 2017 peak. But, market is recovering and gov't's efforts to legitimize the crypto sector is helping.

Oh, okay. I get it.

No, that’s not hyperbole.
Actually, they made $170M off of Ripple in Q1 2018 alone.

As I sit on the plane flying back from a week in Shenzhen with my hardware lead. I can’t help but think…
Forget everything you’ve been told about China.
Forget about the bans on crypto and blockchain.
It’s all nonsense

They aren’t backwards. They are plowing forward.
They aren’t in the past. They are making the future.
They aren’t closed. They have open arms and minds.
They changed me forever.

I saw young people reading on the floor of the bookstore at 10pm surrounded by dozens of Chinese language books about blockchain and crypto. (Technical and social)

I saw factories where women built tablets by hand. Smiling, treated well, working hard, playing ping pong and pool with their boss at lunch.

I sat with a case manufacturing entrepreneur who prepared us wild grown green tea from his mother’s village. His structural engineer showing off his English for me. His laptop next to his boss’s tea pot.

I experienced open arms, hospitality, and energy that changed me forever.
I saw a people craving the future and craving to be the ones to make it.
These are my people.

I visited an ODM that designs crypto miners for China, Japan and now for my startup.
Their factory walls covered with the slogans “Dreams lead the future” “Teams are made up of hearts not people” “Confidence works wonders” “Never give up”

We are lucky to be on a planet with people like this.
I'm lucky to be invited into their world.
Together we will make a new world. Our brothers and sisters who never give up, whose hearts build the future and whose dreams lead the way.
Thank you China. I miss you already.

Dash is all set to capture one of the biggest market for crypto, Venezuela seriously needs mass adoption of crypto like DASH, with the hyperinflation that's going on in the country. What do you think?

      Cosmin Pop
We'll see... DASH management is not economically viable atm. They're having troubles paying employees.

      Kris Bee
How are they having trouble paying employees when they have the treasury giving people loads every month from what I've read? I thought Dash was one of the more well-funded projects considering they're "for-profit"?

      Cosmin Pop
I could google for the exact numbers for you but I won't at this time. Basically they get x dash every month, their expenses are in dollars. At tax free levels and without any fees the amount they get right now is at break even point with their expenses. If DASH price drops under its current level they will be moving in the red. Yes, DASH the company had a lot of money(they had $30mil at some point) but all those silly parties and high exec wages add up. There's open dissent and public requests for the CEO to step down because they’re wasting money and not hitting their roadmap. All info is pretty easy to find…

      Ryan Mckenzie
All of that has nothing to do with the projects in Venezuela. The proposals for the groups in Venezuela have been funded and continue to be funded. The proposal to remove the Dash Core Group CEO was just a troll and that proposal was shot down heavily. Yes, DCG doesn’t have as much funding as they would like but they are fully funded and have explained the plan if Dash continues to fall in price. Dash is a fully working product (just as BTC) and does not require Evolution to work even though the features of Evolution is what most of us are waiting for which will set Dash apart from the other BTC forks.

      Nicholaos Matsikis
I'm really confused on why people think crypto will help Venezuela? They need to get rid of their government first. Then i think a conversation is in order.

Si Wragg
Someone tell me why I shouldn't buy more EOS at these incredibly low valuations? EOS is a 3rd gen crypto game changer right?

      Jonathan Spencer
It’s speculation at this point. The EOS network has very little adoption as of now. Not a lot of other blockchains running on it either when compared to a competitor such as Ethereum.

Good project, but anything at this point is speculation.

      Si Wragg
Is it? Over 4,000tps, multiple DApps and projects already on EOS inside 3 months, the highest blockchain activity stats day in, day out. Free transactions. 2 blocks/sec, highly decentralized. The tech speaks for itself and there's so much going on that I fear people miss. Be able to send to a readable 12 digit account is nice too. The games on EOS kick ass too. Cryptokitties nearly crashed ETH. Still trying to find faults though.....

Varen De Meersman
I would love to promote cryptocurrencies in local stores but I can't seem to find good payment solutions. The ones I found are all middle men that charge 1% fees. I was thinking that if I want to get rid of banks I don't need less to not regulated people taking that role.

Now before you go: "just transfer from one to another wallet." OK that works but has not got much user friendliness to it. I want payment terminals, nfc/rfid payment without pin codes or passwords and things like that. And yes, a pricetag is allowed, as long as it's reasonable, preferably a one off instalation fee or maybe a form of service contract. But 0% transaction fees for crypto to crypto.

So who knows some options here?

credit card processors charge 3-4%. Why is 1% not automatically better, especially considering they are depositing USD and not requiring people to hold crypto

Jason Davis
Time for a fun Friday debate!!!

I believe crypto debit cards are nothing more than band-aids. There's a far more systemic problem and new blockchain-based solutions must be able to circumvent them. Card issuers like Visa are now considered rent seekers. We don't need debit cards, we don't need the issuers, and we don't need crypto companies building irrelevant technology. What's your take and why?

      Luke Stokes
New solutions like https://anywheremobile.io/ are the key to the credit card monopoly problem and also the mass-user adoption issue. I've been advising them a bit, and I think it's going to be a game-changer.

      Ash Roulston
I don't disagree personally, but there are those who find their transition easier with a debit card. I don't think there's a benefit to skipping over debit cards if they help ease the transition.

      Jason Davis
I would argue the the ease of transition position is primarily due to the lack of POS integrations at this time and sellers lack POS integration points beyond the swipe/chip.

That being said it seems the focus should be helping the sellers (merchants) first, then users will follow.

I'm not seeing a real chicken/egg problem at this time.

      Ash Roulston
Maybe from an urban view, sure.

I'm in an area where we don't always have debit access at most of the places we spend money. Some don't have it to begin with, others are dependent on shitty internet.

You've working from a basic assumption that people are already connected that isn't true for everyone. Those first steps of connectivity are more likely to be sat credit card machines than crypto Point of Sale (you know better than to use POS as that in a crypto group lol)

      James Holmes
Everything will be on and done with your phone soon enough anyway

Tiago Oakley
Somethings I have learned and realized in crypto trading so far

Buying low and selling high looks simple for many people, but the ways to try doing this we can write a book

Management risk is the most important thing over here (First we have to learn how to don't lose or lose as less as possible, then later we can think in how to gain something here)

Money doesn't grow on trees, if something you bought is rising, automatically the money from someone's pocket is dropping

Anyone can profit in this market, this is easy, hard is to stop giving back your profits to market

The most people here already gave back their profits from last year to market, Normally we give back our profits to market when we don't realize the market's signs changing phase and continue to do the same operations we did when market was in another phase

Do not use targets for operations (when we use targets is like we wanted to guess the tops and the bottoms in this volatility and this is almost impossible and always will lose the big waves because of this, we have to find a criteria to follow the trends for the best relation risk x reward.(I have found mine, but I can't say sorry)

old tops are reference of liquidity

Trading altcoins doesn’t interest us in a market like this, we only can think in trading altcoins when bitcoin is being our currently currency the most of time like last year. That is, when bitcoin is totally bullish in short term differently from now, as altcoins is much more riskier, they need market with high liquidity to trade them, and the sign the market will give that is with necessary liquidity to trade them is only when btc is 20k again.

for example:
The sign Verge will be with good liquidity to trade it is only when it's at 1980 satoshi again for now

Ripple only at 24k satoshi for now

NEo only 1m500k satoshi for now

just to mention some

and naturally they will hit these values again only when bitcoin is hitting its ath again, don't worry with these tops, for short term these tops become new bottoms

But we can down this signs tops as their downtrends line will go down over time, like bitcoin's trendline too, but with more risk

Altcoins we see their prices only in satoshi and trade them only in these conditions, as they are bullish only when bitcoin is bullish and bearish when bitcoin is bearish,.

Never trade altcoins with many shadows in their candles. too much manipulated they're rekt, check their historic chart and shadows in their weekly chart before

IF You Have something TO Share too, is welcome

      Edward Bradshaw
One strategy I've seen works well in alts on usdt when btc dumps then bounces many alts on usdt jump +10-20+% or more.

Brian Herbst
Is VET (VeChain) a good coin to invest in? I've heard some good things but I'm wondering what others opinions are.

      Phil Beynon
If you're willing to hold I think it's a great choice.hold some for years. It may take 5 years or more but it has huge upside potential

      Brian Herbst
from the reading I have done, I agree. The possibilities are endless but I guess we shall wait and see what actually happens. Lots of ideas out there but actually implementing them is a whole different story.

      Frank Trader
I'd wait for another dip. It's currently pretty expensive.

If you provide a free service online, add your Dash address as an option to donate.
by F1ash3455

I believe this could be a simple way to promote Dash, and you may even get the odd donation here and there.

I've noticed in the past some content creators show their Bitcoin address, so why not show our Dash addresses too?

Being a music enthusiast, I create free music for people to use for any project, and if they'd like to donate it's up to them. One of the options are my Dash address. At the very least I hope it increases a little more curiosity around the crypto.

      littercoin
I asked dash before if they would be interested in supporting my project openlittermap.com which rewards people with Littercoin for doing the work of producing free and open data on plastic pollution but I was told dash was not interested :-/ that is a shame because it would be great publicity for Dash to be the first organization in the world to support using crypto to stop plastic going into the ocean. I have also been rejected for grants by the pineapple fund and EEA for pioneering the first blockchain reward for the production of geospatial data. And people wonder why blockchain is tanking

Should we be concerned about exchanges?
by mikenewhouse

Looking at the top volume exchanges for Dash, I'm left feeling like these numbers are totally faked. I haven't heard of anyone using these sites before. Does anyone have any insight into this and what its impact can have on price?

If there is a threat of manipulation to the price, is there a strategy we can use to counter act it?

      WhereIsTheLove78
Only mass adoption can bring price stability.
Somebody who sells goods or services for DASH adds this to the total market cap.
The whole thing we have seen in the past years was all speculation.
The numbers on coinmarketcap do not reflect the real value at all.

These numbers of fake evaluation created by fake money are there to distract the people from the social aspect behind bitcoin.

Nobody needs these pages when he can evaluate by himself that he can buy all his needs with bitcoin.

DASH Masternode or diversifying Portfolio?
by montislupo

I never thought that 1000 DASH for a Masternode could be an option for me but with prices at this low, my FIAT Budget soon could be enough. DASH Masternode or Diversifying Portfolio?

      ericools
When we were around $1, 000 a coin I had a bunch of people talking to me about how they wish they had got one so I reached out to him now that it's cheap again offered to help them get set up and now the prices low none of them seem to care.

We basically just took a 90%. If you think that Dash or the crypto Market in general is going to recover there's not much in the way of investment options that has that kind of potential upside.

      FranktBunny
Buy the masternode and use the rewards to diversify. That is what a lot of MNOs do

[PROJECT] [COMPLAINT] Abuse of Project Resources (Censorship)
by lazaridis-com

So, the question here is:

Can the EOS Project call itself "open" and "community based" and "voters based", if a single individual can play "wild-west" on the EOS public project resources?

There is a jgiszczak on the eos githbub project. He closes issues far too fast, at the cost of the EOS software and its users.

I complaint, and I asked for a team-overview which mentions the team-members and roles. Guess what? This issue was simply closed.

The same individual censored (deleted) a comment of me, where I asked him to adjust his attitude towards users. A formal complaint, addressed to the project-lead... closed and locked - again by jgiszcak.

I mean, take a look at this comment here:

“Oh it's definitely an issue with Apple. They pulled the same crap Microsoft did with a case-preserving but case-insensitive filesystem, which is a travesty in a filesystem that in every other respect appears POSIX compliant.”

Can B1 vote and get all whale BP's out?
by manuio80

Has the time arrived for B1 to vote? I understand they don't want to effect the voting too much but this is getting a bit out of control..check the BP's rank.. Thanks

      theblockchainkid
Yeah, they should not do this. Under the current system, you’d essentially have one entity that could determine the entire Top 21 BPs. EOS trolls would have a field day.

      Redartsirhc
Plus if B1 voted the whale BP's would need to buy their way back up again and pump the price.

Important considerations regarding CPU usage
by Shaighan

I wrote an article about what I've figured out regarding CPU usage.

As the title says, it's rather important. It deals with the price, but also TpS records, long-term implications and a possible solution :

https://trybe.one/eos-cpu-usage-important-considerations/ref/3389/

      drunkenmugsy
What you detail sounds like how eos should work. It was outlined to work exactly like that. Disappointing to find out it doesn't actually work that way.

      james_pic
One interesting detail I gleaned reading the EOS.IO code:

There is a hardcoded limit on the number of transactions per second EOS can currently support. There's a maximum CPU usage limit per block, and minimum CPU usage per transaction, and one divided by the other works out as 10K TPS (the limit may be changed in future, of course, if BPs agree). There's also a lower limit on sustained CPU which works out at 1K TPS, so TPS can only go over 1K in bursts, which may explain why blocktwitter is sending tweets in bursts.

Thought Experiment (Crypto/MKR)
by anonymouscall05

What would convince you that blockchain/crypto is a failure and that you were wrong to ever think it would be the future?

What are MakerDAO’s biggest existential threats? What can bring about the ruin of MKR/DAI?

Note:
I’ve been riding the train since 2015 and am ready to ride it to zero. I came in with the mindset of riding out the bubbles. It hasn’t been easy, but that’s what I’ve been doing.

A friend of mine, who reluctantly agreed to listen to me last summer, is still in the green, but is questioning his faith. He asked me what it would take for me to admit I am wrong. What new information would make me question the future of crypto. I had some answers for him, but I would like to hear what your thoughts are.

For any belief, you should have a criterion in mind, that, if met, would falsify it.

Implications of Global Settlement?
by vj-singh

I'm interested in opening a collateral but scared about Global settlement. Can you explain the risks of Global Settlement and what all things to keep in mind? Can the settlement happen anytime without any prior notice? Do we think Global Settlement will happen anytime soon?

What all things to keep in mind regarding this when opening a CDP? Is this a good time to open a CDP for the long term?

I heard we might have a GS if the debt ceiling is reached. Anything happening on that front? Any other important things to know about?

MONERO vs PIVX: The First Scheduled Privacy Coin Debate Thread on /r/CryptoCurrency ~~
by OsrsNeedsF2P

Welcome everybody! As scheduled in the respective communities earlier today (as seen HERE and HERE) we will be hosting our first ever open debate thread between these two coins!

Why Privacy?
Mainstream Crypto adoption brings along an unprecedented fear that we've never had before - EVERYTHING is public. We will face a social and economic challenge no other generation has, where your wage, account balances and every purchase is permanently recorded for your nosy neighbor or crazy ex to snoop on. We're here to make sure this stops before it becomes a problem!

What is PIVX?
PIVX is the most advanced Zerocoin protocol on the market, with an insanely talented team of researchers and developers bringing forward Instantly Verified Private Transactions to the cryptosphere. On top of launching the first PoS Zerocoin implementation, PIVX's innovations on the Zerocoin protocol include encrypted serial storage (ezPIV), deterministic zPIV for 1 time seed backups (dzPIV), fractional spend, direct 3rd party spend, automint, and zPoS, the first and only private staking system in the entirety of crypto. Topping it off, we have Researcher and Bulletproofs author Jonathan Bootle on the PIVX team, who's new paper shows a never-seen before zero-knowledge cryptographic proof almost every privacy coin has or will implement in the near future!

The EOS Worker Proposal System, Necessary, Or Useless?
Blockgenic

At its current valuation of nearly 40 million dollars, many have described the WPF (Worker Proposal Fund) as a pot of gold waiting to get plundered by greedy whales. But many have also argued in favor of the WPS (Worker Proposal System). What are the WPS and the WPF, and what makes them so special?

What is the Worker Proposal System?

The EOS System creates inflation of 5% each year. 1% is dedicated to fund the Block Producers who run the chain, while the remaining 4% is paid into the Worker Proposal Fund (WPF). The WPF is intended to be a source of funding for community driven ideas that help grow the ecosystem. The exact definition of what that entails is an exercise we the community have to solve together. -Josh Kauffmann

Anyone that wants to offer a service, can offer their service to the community using the WPS, and get paid for it using the WPF.

Dash. Review — August 2018.
CryptoIndex

Cryptoindex is a tool for exposure to the cryptomarket and serves as a smart benchmark for all cryptocurrencies. The AI-based Cryptoindex algorithm is continuously analyzing more than 1000 coins applying over 170 factors, processing more than 1 million signals per second to provide a highly sophisticated index of the top 100 coins.

[...]

Today’s review: Binance Coin

What is DASH?
The project is an open decentralized platform, based on blockchain technology. According to the developers, the main advantages of the platform are speed, privacy, and security of payments. DASH released its tokens on January 18, 2014. Initially, the coin was called Darkcoin. In essence, it is a fork of Bitcoin, similar projects to DASH are Bitcoin Privet, Bytecoin, Zcash. At the time of writing, Dash is ranked 14th in terms of market capitalization as ranked by CoinMarketCap.

Mining Dash.

Similarly to Bitcoin, you can mine DASH. The reward received for mining is 90%, shared and distributed between the miners and the operators of master classes. There was controversy over the mining setup because when the network was launched, about 30% of the total number of coins were mined within the first hour of mining, miners were able to extract 500,000 Dash. This number is exceptionally high, however, the total increased to 1,000,000 coins within 7 hours, and a further 400 000 more in 36 hours (a total of 1.9 million Dash).

Latest sprint news: Proof-of-Stake and the ongoing development of Giant.Exchange API
GiantProject

In this material, Giant tells about the most noteworthy events of Sprint #5 (13 August — 24 August 2018). Learn about our biggest achievement of the last two weeks, see what’s happening to the team and what our developers were doing throughout this time period.

The move to PoS

We have successfully moved to the Proof-of-Stake from the Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm after receiving more than 50% votes of masternode owners on our Discord server. The early move will give us more time to adjust to the new conditions and set up Giant.Exchange. The model of stake rewards or staking is still a theme open for discussion. This event led to a short pause in Giant Coin (GIC) withdrawals on the crypto exchanges, but it was not a glitch of any kind: the exchange owners simply wanted to make sure everything is alright with our blockchain.

As for the measure itself, now mining whales will not be able to get huge amounts of Giant Coin and swiftly ‘dump’ it afterwards, hurting the financial well-being of the whole system including the rewards of masternode owners. Other benefits of PoS are described in the article mentioned below.

Not only that, the advance of artificial intelligence, integrated circuits or microchip, and video recognition also open up a possibility that never existed before, an autonomous or self-driving vehicle.

An autonomous vehicle is a transportation machine that has the capabilities to navigate and sense its environment without human input. They get their data automatically and decide what they will do automatically too via artificial intelligence. They’ll navigate the road based on the program and data acquired from their environment recognition ability. In other words, they are able to sense when to stop, when to accelerate and how much acceleration needs to be applied, when to break and so on.

An autonomous vehicle such as a self-driving car is a major breakthrough in the transportation industry. With autonomous cars, human drivers don’t have to put a lot of energy when they drive and at the same time minimize the risk of human errors in driving. A human driver, in theory, will only watch out how the car ride, just like a pilot when they set the plane in auto-pilot mode.
