Exercise and relaxation
Exercise and relaxation techniques are essential to achieving the success you want.
It can seem hard to relax and exercise at the same time, but there are many tricks to overcome this challenge. For relaxation, I recommend meditation, yoga, progressive relaxation, and deep breathing exercises.
Meditation allows you to clear your mind of distractions and focus on the task at hand. It is easy to meditate while walking, driving, or exercising, which makes it an excellent technique to incorporate into daily life.
Yoga is another great way to relax. Yoga is a type of exercise, but unlike running, yoga is more focused on flexibility and stretching. Yoga classes are popular at gyms and fitness studios, so if you're going to take a yoga class, it's important to choose a class that works with your schedule.
Progressive relaxation involves using your imagination to imagine yourself floating above your head, then relaxing all of your muscles in order of importance. Start with the top of your head and work down through your face, neck, and shoulders. Once you've relaxed all of your muscles, return to your head to continue relaxing the rest of your body.
Deep breathing exercises also have the effect of helping you relax. Simply inhale slowly, then exhale slowly. It's much easier to do this if you practice this for longer periods of time. It is common for people to try to breath through their nose, but this is a bad habit. By inhaling through the mouth, you avoid breathing in dust or other allergens that might be in your nose.
Another thing to remember is to stretch out whenever you can. Stretching feels good, especially if you haven't stretched for a while.
Finally, there are many apps that can help you accomplish these goals, including Headspace, Meditation, Binaural Beats, Relax Melodies, and The Mindfulness App. Try some of these out to see if they help you achieve relaxation and calmness.
