Steem Developer Documentation

in #steem-dev7 years ago

Since I joined steem and started to build an app (react-native) I struggled with the lack of (good) documentation for steem.
After digging around in a lot of projects and source code, asking other devs and try/error I finally got an overview how to work on steem. Nonetheless there is a lot missing.

The feedback from all kinds of developers here (experienced and new) gave me the impression that there is a real need for useful documentation. In the end I just decided to setup a project for that:

Steem Docs

The basic idea is to post tutorials, code recipes etc. on steem first and collect it on steem docs to have a central entry point for developers.

Great initiative... 👍 Have you checked this as well?

And I think, this github has few people working on it and expanding that would also be great!

I have also started interactive Steem API explorer, if you want can help out there as well, it needs some updates with recent changes, but can be useful if someone who wants to directly check how Steem APIs work.

Thanks.
I've seen it. It's very focussed on APIs. I wanted to have a more general resource/ overview. But I will contribute there too I guess.

I'll check your steemapi. You know about http://steemroll.io/api-explorer/ ?

Good job. As someone who is interested in doing some development on steem soon. I am sure this will become a great resource for me. Cheers.

Hi sarasate. I just wanted you to know that I've relaunched the Steem API Explorer at https://steemapi.com since I saw that Steem Docs points to the old URL in "Resources". Thanks for the great work! :)

Thanks, it's been a while. I don't really maintain the docs anymore but the explorer will be helpful while working on my steemQL GraphQL server..

Sarasate,

Hello from Sevilla, Spain.

I have been a member on Steemit since December, but never got involved until I got laid-off (10 days ago)...

This info will really help me out.

Thanks.

WOW! I am a developer myself who's new to Steem and I've been searching for documentation with tutorials/recipes. I hope your docs grow larger soon!

I hope too. Feel free to join/contribute..

Reading the Steem docs now. I join just a week ago, so still learning.
Thank you for taking the time to make this :)

It's in a very early state. Feedback welcome ;)
