Peace dove or silk chickens

Recently visited the exhibition of pigeons for the first time in my life. We are accustomed to these birds, which do not pay attention to them. I see pigeons every day when I go to feed my chickens. Pigeons flock to the trough, they are not afraid of chickens at all. There is a proverb: "Dog is a friend of man." The same can be said about pigeons, because they accompany a person from ancient times.

Wild pigeons live everywhere, but the presence of human habitation attracts pigeons; here they can find food. Over time, the man civilized the pigeons. Now there are many varieties of these birds. Some pigeons are very large, like chickens, others are very small birds.

Here are pure white pigeons, much larger than ordinary pigeons.

I would never have thought that we have so many people in the province who breed pigeons. And what beautiful these pigeons!

In the wild, pigeons live for up to four years. But the man managed to prolong their lives. In captivity with good content pigeons can live up to fifteen years.

The exhibition was a lot of poultry: chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys. But here for the first time I saw silk chickens, and even before that I had not heard such a name.

This is a Chinese breed. The plumage is white, fluffy, thick. But the color of plumage may be different. At the exhibition were silk chickens only white. It turns out that these chickens can be cut once a month, and from the down you can knit things. Incredible!

I really liked the exhibition. Now I will definitely visit all the agricultural exhibitions that will be held in our area.
