British Empire

What an awesome stuff encountered today. Thought of sharing in the steemit community.

I like the way it has been written.

Today is my day of enlightenment, not under a Bodhi tree but in the confines of my library. As the hot sun outside is blazing, the sun of the greatest truth has blazed in my head. I have developed a Buddha like compassion for the British who suffered under the tyranny of Indian imperialism. They were tormented, tortured, brutalised and dehumanised. Their lot was pathetic indeed. Even the receipt of an insignificant succour was a boon for them. They were locked in an unending warfare which they had no chance of winning. It was the Indian empire of heat and dust, dampness and humidity, mosquitoes, flies, cockcroaches and snakes that ruled with vicious ferocity over the poor Britons who had been lured by baubles, condiments and spices of India, ignorant of the Brahmastra of heat in the armoury of our native land. They pined for a cube of ice. On September 6,1833, when a ship arrived carrying 100 tonnes of ice, all Firanghis swarmed to Calcutta port led by no less a dignitary than the Governor General, Lord Bentick himself to slake the thirst of their parched bodies. What Governor General, what dignitary! A slave to a few cubes of ice! A worm in the clutches of Empress Heat! A skinned bag for mosquitoes to puncture, prick and suck. What a sweet revenge!

I very much enjoyed your library morning musings. Gandhi came to my mind. “What Do You Think of Western Civilization?” “I Think It Would Be a Good Idea”.
Have a nice day!

It's one of the great one...You reminded me of Gandhi....
