Will Verge Partnership Happen?

Following the completion of an ambitious crowdfunding campaign, the CEO and creator of Verge (XVG), Justin Sunerok, thanked the @vergecurrency Twitter community and TokenPay for their part in raising the 75 million XVG needed to secure "the biggest deal in crypto history" and stated that "We're going to be announcing the name of the partner on April 16th, simultaneously with a global marketing campaign, the likes of which you have never seen before. It's going to change crypto in a really, really good way."

Naturally, this has created a lot of excitement in the crypto space regarding a mysterious big partnership announcement along with a change in sentiment and price run that has seen XVG hit 0.095 c at the time of writing, up about 125% since March 26th.

Justin Sunerok gave an interview to the “The Larry and Joe Show”, only hinting at what to expect on 17th April (rather than 16th), due to the constraints of a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Sunerok states that the expected announcement will be big enough to attract the world’s media attention. He used the term "major corporation" and "a name that everybody's going to know" with "exclusive adoption for a long time" and "marketing that will be in the mainstream news." The biggest claim made during this interview is that XVG "will become a top 3 cryptocurrency by market-cap" and "the partnership is good to go for sure and there's nothing wrong that could happen out of it."

However, since the announcement of the successful crowdfunding campaign, things took a turn for the worse for Verge after a 51% attack on the Verge blockchain.

This attacked was quickly downplayed by Verge on their Twitter account.

But on social media platforms there was a negative reaction to this attack as some people doubted that Verge would be signing any partnership following this and conspiracy theories abounded that the partnership announcement was part of an elaborate exit plan by Justin Sunerok

Next came the denials from Verge's loyal community that and many stated that this was FUD and one person also said that he would like to kick the hacker's f***ing head in (comment not included)

Then came a reminder of the future developments coming to Verge

A few days after all the above traffic on social media, TokenPay tweeted confirmation of the TokenPay/XVG debit cards soon to be issued

So, to sum things up, has the Verge attack threatened the partnership? Will it still materialize? It seems unlikely that Sunerok has an exit strategy, as TokenPay would surely have received assurances that a partnership deal was actually in place. Will the partnership announcement turn-out to have been over hyped? If so, Verge will suffer badly for it. If the partnership announcement is as big as we are led to believe, then it’s really a case of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ the value of XVG skyrockets.
