I'm much more focused on Flagship smartphones when it comes to smartphone reviews. but the thing is most of those smartphones won't even be released here in Sri Lanka. So, I decided to increase focus on Mid-range devices. For start-up, I decided to select Vivo V27.

The Vivo V27 features a sleek and slim design, with a glass front and back and a plastic frame. One standout feature is the color-changing back panel, which adds a unique and eye-catching element to the device. This design choice gives the phone a premium look and feel. Especially with just 7.4mm of thickness, that's crazy.

The device brings a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination of a sizable screen and a high refresh rate should result in a smooth and visually pleasing user experience. Itis 1080P and with 20:9 aspect ratio and 388PPI pixel density, it ensures a crispy viewing experience. The HDR10+ support enhances color and contrast for vibrant visuals.

The Vivo V27 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, which is a capable mid-range processor. While it may not be as powerful as some flagship chipsets, it should handle everyday tasks and moderate gaming with ease. The octa-core CPU, along with the Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, ensures a reliable performance. The phone offers multiple memory configurations, including 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. This combination can balance multitasking capabilities and storage space for apps, photos, and media.

The Vivo V27 features a capable camera system, including a 50MP Sony IMX766V Sensor in primary camera with PDAF and OIS for sharp and stable photos. An 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view offers versatility for capturing wide-angle shots. There's also a 2MP macro camera for close-up photography. On the front, a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus ensures high-quality self-portraits. Both the main camera & front camera can record videos up to 4k@30fps.

With a 4,600mAh battery, the Vivo V27 should provide decent battery life. The phone supports 66W wired fast charging, allowing for quick replenishment of the battery. This fast-charging capability is especially useful when you need to top up your device in a hurry. It can charge 50% within 19 minutes. But it lacks wireless charging. But it's OK since it's a midrange device.

The device runs on Android 13 with Vivo's custom Funtouch 13 skin. While the specific features of the software may vary, you can expect the typical Android experience with some additional customization options and Vivo's software enhancements. The Vivo V27 is positioned as a more affordable alternative to its Pro counterpart, offering a slightly lower chipset while maintaining key features.

The Vivo V27 appears to be a compelling mid-range smartphone focusing on providing a well-rounded user experience. Its strengths lie in its display, camera capabilities, fast charging, and unique design elements like the color-changing back panel.
