Meanwhile Under 19 Cricket Team : Captain Leading from The Front | 5% for SL Charity

I'm pretty sure most of us watches cricket matches again. Also, now we have the privilege to go to the ground and watch cricket there. Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe ODI series is going on these days in Pallekale. So our eyes are at our National Team. But the thing is, in West Indies Under 19 World Cup is going on and Our Sri Lankan team is doing pretty great.. SRC

Our U19 Cricket Team was in really good shape before the world cup. I remember there was Two ODI series with Bangladesh and England. Both series were played in Colombo. The ODI series against Bangladesh was won by Sri Lanka as 5-0. Most matches were really close. Most matches were won by like 2, 3 runs or 1, 2 wickets.

And talking about the series against England, it was also won by Sri Lanka as 3-2. First ODI match was won by England. But after that, Sri Lanka came back strong and won next 3 matches to win the series.

After that, U19 Sri Lankan Team went to play Asia Cup. And there we became the runner ups. Yeah.. India retained the Asia Cup. So our young boys were performing really well before the World Cup.

Specially, The skipper Dunith Wellalage was the star performer throughout these series. Talking about Dunith, he's an all-rounder. In most matches, he did both batting and bowling really well. I remember he took 6 wickets in the series against England.

So, the next destination for Sri Lankan team was West Indies to play the World Cup. I saw Sri Lankan team did well in practice matches.. And so in Group Stage matches.

First, as the 2nd match of the series, Sri Lanka played against Scotland and won the match by 40 runs. Skipper Dunith Wellalage took 5 wickets for 28 runs. So Sri Lanka got into a great start. Not only that.. the next match which was played against Australia was also won by Sri Lanka by 4 Wickets. And there also, the star performer was the Sri Lankan skipper, Dunith Wellalage. He took 5 wickets for 27 and scored 52 runs. That means back to back 5 wicket hauls.. He was given the " Man of the Match" award for his performance.

So the next match for Sri Lanka is to be played tomorrow against the hosts, West Indies. Sri Lanka is in the lead in the Group D and if they can win against hosts, Sri Lanka will be selected to the next stage, Quarter Finals..
