Entertainment Blog #91 | Resident Evil [2022 - ] : Hyped but... Does It Have the Potential??

When talking about zombies, we won't miss "Resident Evil". Oh My God.. How many "Resident Evil" things are there?? At first, it's a game. Then There's a Movie Series. And There's a separate movie which was released last year. Also, there is an Animated Series on Netflix.

However, it is not done.. Netflix created a live-action TV Series based on video games. And it was hyped so much. You know, most hyped things usually don't live up to the expectations. And that's the same thing that happened to this series.

So the series was released on 14th July. I've watched the trailers before. So I was hoping to have a good time. That's why I downloaded it immediately after seeing its torrent. And I can't watch more than 4 episodes.

For the ones who don't know about Resident Evil, Umbrella Corporation is a Health Care Company that produces drugs and conduct various classified experiments under the acknowledgment of the USA government.

They have their base company in a city called Racoon City. In this series, it's "New Racoon City" because something terrible has happened in the past. So, the parents of families in "New Racoon City " works for Umbrella Corporation. And all the family members in Racoon City have facilities inside the city.

Talking About The Story..

Two timelines are shown in parallel. One is the Apocalyptic present.. And the other one is 14 years before when the pandemic begins. So the present is 2036. Then that makes the past timeline 2022. So the apocalypse starts in 2022.

In the past timeline, Albert Wesker is a scientist who works for Umbrella Corporation. And he's moving into New Racoon City with his daughters, Billie and Jade. One day Billie goes inside the facility to see his dad. And that's where she sees animals carried inside for Animal Trials..

These daughters want to expose this secret to society. So they break into the facility to take snaps. And they accidentally open a cage where some kinda sick dog was kept and it bites Billie. The incident was covered by their dad. But later Umbrella Corporation gets to know about this and then they chase both Billie and Jade.

In the present timeline, Billie is some kinda security officer who works for Umbrella Corporation. She's trying to study on "Zeros" which we all know as zombies. But her study went wrong and then a group of people start to chase her knowing who she is.. And seems like she's very much capable of surviving from all those deadly attempts..

Both these timelines go in parallel and most of the times it's OK. The secret in the plot is, how did the virus break in from the facility.. And for that, seems like you gotta watch the whole season..

As you can see, ratings have been not good on this series. This series was hyped by Netflix. But seems like it's losing in streaming. So most probably this series will also be discontinued after first season..
