If the sky is not too cloudy, the special thing we see in the sky is The Moon. The Moon is there since... forever. And the moon is there traveling on the same path since its birth of the moon. SRC

And what if the moon left its trajectory?? Two things can happen. The moon could go away from The Earth. Or the moon could come closer to Earth and eventually crash into Earth which sounds so catastrophic.

And that's the exact thing that happened in the movie "Moonfall". The movie is about the exact thing the name says. The director of this movie is Roland Emmerich. He's the one who directed catastrophe movies such as "2012", "The day after Tomorrow", "Independence Day" etc. So, this is a catastrophe movie.

Talking About The Movie..

In 2011, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), Jocinda Fowler (Halle Berry), and Marcus who are astronauts joined in a space mission to repair a satellite. There, an unknown extraterrestrial object attacked them and Marcus died.

Brian explained the incident occurred telling the story about the extraterrestrial object and it landing on the moon after attacking them. But the Judgement Board didn't believe him. So his partner, Jocinda. Things got rough on him after that. He lost his career. His marriage life ended eventually. Then he went under the radar..

Until the sudden change of orbit of The Moon. K.C. Houseman is someone who's interested in the moon. Using his contacts in Space Observatory in Chile, he finds out about this change in Moon's Orbit.

He contacts Brian Harper, at first he ignores him. But in the end, he becomes one of Brian's best friends. So, as K.C. Houseman says, The Moon is a megastructure.. That means it was created by some creature knowing how this kind of moon affects The Earth positively.

And now, the weight and structure of the moon have taken a hit by an extraterrestrial object. That's why its structure has been damaged. And now, the moon is slowly coming closer to the Earth. So what's gonna be? Will the Earth survive?? Who will stand up to save humanity?? The movie will answer all these questions..

Talking About My Experience..

I have watched several movies of Roland Emmerich. "2012", "The day after Tomorrow", and "Independence Day" are some of them. His movies are not scientifically right. There are things that happen which can't be explained by science and those things look dumb.

But "Moonfall" doesn't fit like other movies. I mean, if you are watching this movie seriously, you'll be pissed. The plot is OK but there are so many misfits. There are some dialogues that completely ruin the mood. So, I had a hard time deciding whether this is a comedy or a catastrophe movie.

Talking About Ratings...

This movie is an independently produced film. It wasn't under a contract of a studio. Usually, these type of movies doesn't receive that much of a budget but this movie... this movie had received over 140$ Million as the budget. But directors had been unable to take real advantage of it.

As I said earlier, there are so many flaws in this movie.. and they are from its core. That's why filmmakers were unable to make a profit out of it. The movie flopped at Box Office just making around 50$ Million for now..
