Entertainment Blog #153 | Special Ops: Lioness [2023 -] - Ladies on Front Seat..
But this series is not about that kind of team. But it has some influences of it. MTV's Special Ops: Lioness is a Spy Thriller series created by Taylor Sheridan that premiered on July 23, 2023, on Paramount+. Then the episodes were released one by one and now you can binge watch it. This series has an amazing cast including Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman.
Talking about the story, the story goes around Joe, the CIA officer in charge of the Lioness Program. She's a mother of two girls and her husband is a surgeon. After a failed spy mission in Syria, Joe was given a Female Marine, Cruz to train for a new Spy mission.
Cruz's mission is to befriend Aaliyah, the daughter of an owner of an oil company who allegedly pumps money to terrorists. Aaliyah loves to spend money with his friends who are mostly broken people. So Cruz fit into her profile easily. Cruz reaches Aaliyah as Zara who has Arabian ancestors. Aaliyah is about to marry and she knows what's gonna happen after marrying. She had to leave the fun world and have children.
Zara and Aaliyah become close friends quickly. I mean.. too close to be precise. Aaliyah falls in love with Zara. But Zara knows that she's not Zara. But she also couldn't help her feelings. In the interim, her supervisor, Joe struggles with her family. With all things going on, Zara, Joe & her crew have to make this mission successful. So, will they be successful? It's up to you to find out.
The reception of this series appears to be mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 55% approval rating based on 30 reviews, with some critics finding it derivative and unconvincing. Metacritic provides a weighted average score of 56 out of 100, indicating mixed or average reviews. Variety's critique describes it as "cliché" and "shameless military propaganda."
But for me, the series looks pretty great. It was a great watch. Worth waiting 8 weeks to watch all episodes..
