Entertainment Blog #109 | American Gigolo [2022] - This Remake is not That Good...

There are so many movies and series that begin with "American". American Psycho, American Horror Stories, American Hustler, and American Made are some of them. And the newest one to the crew is " American Gigolo".

American Gigolo is a Showtime Original series. Its first season was aired in later 2022 and consists of 8 episodes. This series is based on a movie that was made by the same name in 1980. Jon Bernthal plays the main role here.

Talking About the Story..

Julian Kaye had an abusive childhood in his neighborhood. Then her mother sells him to a woman so she can sell him to other women.. as a male prostitute. When the time passed by Julian wanted to settle. But every time he fails.

First, he had this girlfriend, Lisa Jane and she was. mysteriously killed. Then after a few years, he starts this special relationship with Michelle Stratton who is a married woman. In the interim, he was continuing his job. And he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.. at a crime scene of one of his clients. Then he was jailed for 15 Years.

Then after 15 years, new DNA evidence came up and Julian was released. The first thing he went to see is.. Michelle Stratton is a mother of a boy now. But seems like she has moved on with his marriage life and she'd like to keep the dirt aside.

But things get strange when Michelle Stratton's son, Colin starts a relationship with his mathematics teacher. Then they run away but things end up with the teacher being killed. Right after Colin reaches the crime scene, he runs away..

And Michelle contacts Julian and things are about to get really messy.. If you wanna know more, you gotta watch the series.

My Experience..

I enjoyed the first few episodes. But the biggest problem in this story is there's no mystery. I mean, there are a couple of murders that clearly needs attention. But it doesn't show that much of weight to that. When there's that kinda thing, it ends quickly. And that's the hole in the plot..

Ratings..

The ratings are not quite good. As I first said, it has issues in the plot. So it can't be continued as a successful series. That's why SHOWTIME has decided to cancel the series.
