Entertainment Blog #100 | The Menu [2022] - Perfect Dinner !

Usually, when we go to a Restaurant and order some food, we have to pay for it. Sometimes we pick some pictures of it and share our experience with others. Sometimes some people post them of Facebook too. Sometimes they post them in Facebook Groups like " බඩජාරි සංසදය".

It's like the Light Version of Food Critics. Actually, in a country like Sri Lanka, food critics are not a big deal. Actually, I don't whether there are any Professional Food Critics in Sri Lanka. But in most European Countries, it's a serious thing. A critic can make a Restaurant successful or it can go bankrupt.

The movie, " The Menu"... for me, it's a satire for Food Critics.. Let's talk about that afterward.. Talking about basic details.. it was released back in November 2022 theatrically. Recently it was released on HBO MAX. Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Fiennes, and Nicolas Hault play the main roles here.

Talking about the movie..

A group of people including celebrities, and food critics were invited to an exquisite Hotel named Hawthorne which is situated in a remote island. There is this Chef, Julian Slowik, who had a troublesome childhood and early career but somehow managed to reach a better state as where he has reached the head position at Hawthorne.

Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicolas Hault) are a couple. Tyler tries to fit into the premises accepting that things happens at Hawthorne are normal.. But Margot is not like that. She can't ignore them. And she feels something off about this place.

The dinner consists of five meal courses. When a course by course goes by, spookiness increases. And if you could watch this movie, I hope you can have a great experience that you have never had at a Restaurant..

My Experience..

I watched some reviews of this movie days before watching this movie and all of them really appreciated this movie. I think I also can say the same. From the start of the film, you can feel the spookiness of the story. And it holds up until the end. There are some elements that are taken from past occurrences and those details are implemented at present. Those details really make the story interesting.

Ratings..

The ratings are pretty good. This site was an untouched territory by movies. And this attempt is successful.. So people and critics have treated it with good ratings. Not only ratings, the financial statement is also quite a good one. It's a 75$ Million Box Office against 30$ Million budget. That alone tells how good the movie is..
