Can we derive benefits from having a flexible mind?

In the case that with our actions we manage to obtain the benefits of a flexible mind, then we must adapt our habits to achieve this mental flexibility. The habits found are key in this search for a flexible mind, since we are living in a world with constant changes, in which it is essential to adapt to new technologies and lifestyles.

It is normal to think: well, but changes have existed throughout the history of mankind!

Certainly changes have always existed, mankind stopped being transported by horses to be transported by trains and automobiles, however the fact of the current changes is that they occur at a more vertiginous speed. To be able to assimilate these changes and not to resist, but simply to be able to adapt to them and get the best of the benefits, we must generate habits that make us have a flexible mind that makes the coupling to these changes more efficient than it can be under other conditions.

What does it mean for any of us to have a flexible mind?

It is important that any of us can conceptualize about mental flexibility, since each one of us will give it a personal interpretation appropriate to our interests, however for this case I will try to conceptualize about this point in a way quite close to what any of you might think.

The term flexible coined the understanding of that something that can be stretched, expanded, with the intention of achieving in it a comfort for different postures and placements. In the case of the human mind, it is important that we manage to make our mind flexible, because if we do so we would be achieving a broad thinking for each particular situation that comes our way.

With such flexibility we would be having a broad vision of our environment, we can look at a problem from different angles and not rush to make a hasty decision, but by having several positions we can study them all and make the best decision.

When something is rigid and is subjected to some kind of stress, it is most likely to break, however when a material is elastic, it can be subjected to considerable stress that may be able to resist rupture. When we train our mind to take things calmly, to analyze, reason and reflect, we are leading our mind to a flexibility that can withstand any kind of pressure to which it could rarely succumb and collapse.

A very important habit to give flexibility to our mind is to give us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes, because in this way we do not close ourselves to the possibility of learning from the bad things that happen to us and thus not to fall into the same mistakes.

If we intend to make our mind more flexible, we should not be absolute in thought, that is to say the most advisable thing is to look for the diversity of thought, we cannot close ourselves to the fact that things happen for only one reason, with this we open different alternatives while our mind is enjoying the advantage of being more and more flexible.

Being able to have a flexible mind allows us to adapt faster and better to the environment and in turn to the changes necessary to move towards the development and consolidation of something. When the human being is open minded is more willing to change.
