The New Look "Top Gear" Motoring Show

This season's Top Gear has a whole new cast including :

Chris Evans (TV and radio presenter),
Matt LeBlanc (actor best known from Friends)
and of course, The Stig (identity unknown).
The presenters are also accompanied by:
racing driver Sabine Schmitz,
YouTube car star Chris Harris,
F1 pundit Eddie Jordan
and motoring journalist Rory Reid.

The banter and rapport of the previous presenters - Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond - has left the studio but the program is now crammed with car content and less studio action. For example, episode four which I watched last night included:

The Aston Martin Vulcan which was driven around a track in Dubai because it is not road legal in the UK and it breaks noise restrictions on every UK racetrack. It was a mental ride.

The Tesla Model X - the electric car of the future but not at it's current price tag, was cruising around New York. The presenter commented on being able to hear the tyres instead of the engine - a strange sensation.

Some of the presenters also took part in a race from England to Italy by luxury train, two cars and a motorbike. The train with Eddie Jordan (phantom spoon player) on board won! I like these journeys as you can also appreciate the nice scenery from different countries.

The Stig - a tame racing driver also does a circuit around the Top Gear track. No-one knows who this guy is, so he always gets a strange introduction. Last night Matt LeBlanc said: "Some say, he thinks Brexit is a laxative... and that for tax purposes he's classed as a biscuit". A bit of humour returns to the show!

They also interview two celebrities about their car history, who also compete in a lap around the track. Last night it was Bear Grylls (British Adventurer) and Professor Brian Cox (English Physicist and previous member of band D:Ream). They talk about their first and favourite car and the audience choose the winner. I would definitely not win as I am no petrol head. My first car was a white Citroen AX with an after market sunroof. My favourite car was a white Citroen AX with sunroof. Yes - I only had one car that I owned for 16 years and she only went to car heaven when she was 20 years old.

If you get the opportunity, take a look at Top Gear and see what you think. It's different from the likes of "Fast N' Loud" with the Gas Monkey Garage crew but if you're into cars, it may be right up your street!
