The old grinding stone

Have you ever imagined how difficult it would have been around 6 to 7 decades ago when mixers, grinders, refrigerators and even telivisions were a luxury. My parents, both of them, had a simple childhood without the luxuries unlike the life that they gave us. It never striked my mind that life back then would have been so tough.

I believe cooking was the most difficult tasks back then as there were no cookers, LPG gas cylinders, gas stove and those grinders. I remember a big bowl like grey colored stone in my kitchen that my mom never used. I don't exactly know where that antic beauty is now, but I saw a mini version of it at my grand mother's sister's house recently.

My cousin has a liking for antic things and she has a lot of them displayed in her house. Among all the stuff, the mini grinding stone caught my attention. I wonder how my grandmother's used to grind batter for a family of 8 in that heavy grinding stones. That generation was really hardworking. We should actually thank God to have created us during this time when everything is at ease.
