See the symptoms in your child
A sudden change in behaviour, getting anxious, scared, irritable, sudden loss or gain in appetite are some signs among few others that you should not ignore in your child. These may be signs that tell you that your young baby is suffering from depression. If you dismiss the symptoms as just a growing up phase then you may regret later.

Many parents notice these signs in their kids and ignore them saying their child is just in the growing up phase. Some even say that their child cannot be depressed as the family doesn't have any history of depression, but then they should understand that they may be the first one.
Reason for depression can be many like sibling rivalry, bullying at school, not getting enough parents attention, a close friend relocating or anything. You never know what triggers depression in little children.
If you have already noticed and are waiting for your child to come out of it then please seek professional help. Clinical depression needs attention.
Last week a young girl of about 14 years committed suicide in India. Parents said she suffered from depression after being bullied at school by teachers and children for not being able to pay the school fee because of financial difficulties at home. I wish the teachers were more professional and helped the girl by supporting her than join the gang and bully her.
