Gold diggers

I recently met my friend who was very ambitious during school times. She held herself high among others and treated others as of they live on her money. However, I was somehow close to her because we shared notes. Though she belonged to a middle class family just like mine, she had super dreams. She wanted to go around the world, eat expensive food at expensive restaurants and of course the best of designer.

So, was she preparing for a bright future, kind of, yesssssss. She was not a child prodigy and calling her an average student academically would be an over statement. She didn't possess any special talent nor was she active in sports. In short, she was just like me, except that she wore nice clothes and carried herself well.

When I met her last week, I was shocked. We hadn't met for over 15 years or more. She looked so awesome while I looked no less than a beggar who had turned up after a tiring shift at the signals😂. After a brief hello, how are you, long time etc etc talks, she insisted that I should enter her house. She lived in a high rise building that was flanked by sea on one side and a beautiful swimming pool on the other. The amazing view from her balcony made me feel extra small and pity myself.

She loaded the table with international branded cookies, cakes and other bakes that my kids ate as if they were eternally hungry. I couldn't see her kids around and guessed her husband was at work. When I enquired she said she didn't have kids because that would worsen her figure and time and she recently got divorced from her 3rd husband and is currently dating a business tycoon. The talks went on for an hour or so and I excused myself from her place.

Once at my nest, I got in touch with my other school friends and told them how my life sucks and how wealthy that other girl from the class is currently. My friends then told me what one can term as an eye opener. Looks ate always deceptive. The woman happens to be a gold digger. She marries only wealthy men and divorces them when she finds someone wealthier. In the process she broke hearts of her 3 husbands and the 4th one is in the queue. She doesn't want to have any children because that would ruin her market value as no one would want to take care of a woman along with her child and also, child would mean a responsibility. Everytime she divorced her husband she would get a house and a good sum of money to keep.

There are many woman who live their life this way. I would teach my kids to live a life on their own and most importantly do not leave a person for money. Money is just a phase of life, I agree it is important, but life is not impossible without luxuries.
