Steemit Engagement Challenge S3:W4 - Three things I'd change about myself, and three things I'd keep by @samuel20

Introduction

Glad to see that we are all healthy and kicking. This contest is very interesting and i don't want it to pass me by. In life we learn everyday, we know our self more than any other person, we also know some of our characters that have caused us a lot of harm and the characters that have benefitted us too. In any case, it is now left for us to change the ones that haven't been profitable to us and continue to uphold that character that has been of benefit to us. Now to the meat of the matter.

Three things I'd change about myself

Just like I mentioned in the Introduction, we all have some characters that had not really given us good benefit and we intend to change them. Here are some things I would like to change about myself.

•1.)Trusting People:
I am someone that easily trust and leave myself open for people. I always feel that everyone is a good person and do not realize that some people are wolves in sheep clothing. This character of trusting people easily has cost me a lot of times because people take advantage of it to treat me bad. There are times I will lend money to people who are in need but they find it difficult to pay back the money. This makes me sad and I have resolved to change. I must only trust a few people whom I have known that their integrity and honesty is not in doubt.

•2.)Being Silent:
I am someone that expects people to know the right things to do and so I prefer to remain silent even when they refuse to do the right thing. I normally think that scolding them will make them grow angry. However, I noticed that keeping silence and enduring something that others are doing bad isn't good at all.

In my family house, I expect my younger siblings to wash the dishes, but sometimes they won't do it, I will wash it myself thinking that it will make them to change but they keep leaving it for me to do. They know that anything they didn't do, I will do it myself.

Again this character has made my siblings to take advantage of me, though we all arent staying together again. Definitely, I will change this particular character too.

•3.)Not Socializing:
This is another character that I would be glad to let go. But it seems to be my natural character, i find it hard to associate with people. For example, if I come to a place newly, it takes me up to 2 weeks to start talking or interacting with people around the place.

I don't have many friends, my friends are just few because I am an introvert, this makes me not to socialize very well with people. Even in my village, they know my siblings more than me 😊.

If I can change the aforementioned 3 characters, I believe I would be a much better person.

Three (3) things I'd kept about myself

Notice that I have mentioned 3 things I would like to change about myself. Permit me to mention 3 things about myself that i would love to keep.

•1.) Discipline:
Naturally, I am a disciplinarian. I always believe in doing things the right way without minding whose ox is gored. When things are done the right way without favouring anyone or treating anyone as a sacred cow- then I would like to be in the party. I hate double standard and compromise. This attribute has earned me a lot of respect and reward. I don't have any plans of changing this behaviour of discipline. I love it and have benefitted immensely from it.

•2.)Honesty:
This is one of the best things I love about myself. My honesty and integrity has never been in doubt. I like it be honest with people and in all my doings. This has made a lot of people trust me a great deal. Even my parents believe that I can't tell lies. They believe virtually every thing i tell them. My yes is my yes, and my no is no. I like to be original, straightforward and honest in whatever I do, anyday, anytime.

•3.) Hardworking and Positive:
What we think affects what we see. I have always loved to think in the positive direction, I don't believe in negativity. Although in life, you can't get all you want, but one needs to have positive thoughts at all times. When you think negative, they will likely get negative results.

I also love to be hard-working and not depending on anyone completely. When you are hard-working, it is easy to get people to help you to complete your task, but when you have entitlement mentality- expecting people to do everything for you, you will likely be disappointed all the time.
