Painting Horses Outdoors From Life
Today I spent the afternoon in Glenorchy, New Zealand painting some horses from life. Painting outdoors is know as painting en plein air and I painted this in oils on an 8" x 10" canvas panel.
I have been painting on and off for my whole life and have always been a studio painter, but lately I find myself spending more time painting outdoors and I have found that it has massively improved my studio work.
This chap came to say hello as I was painting. All up it was a great afternoon's painting.

Nice picture and painting! When I try to draw something just by looking at it usually the drawing ends in disaster, hehe
