The Story of the Town Porak Poranda Was Attacked by Bees

Historically, in 1950, South American scientists around Hidalgo City tried to get married between European honey bees and Africa. Scientists hope this research will improve bee breeding and honey production. But either because of what factors, as many as 3,000 bees escaped from captivity.

This raises panic, given the African honey bees are notoriously aggressive and unfriendly to humans. The unfortunate incident, hundreds of people and livestock died from being attacked by this bee conspiracy.

The bees were flying and then trapped in the monitoring tower at Hidalgo. Then cross to the Mexican border. To commemorate this incident the government perpetuates by building a statue.

Spending around 20,000 dollars (Rp 265 million) the giant bee statue is carved by Jerome Vettrus. The statue, named The Killer Bee, weighs 2,000 pounds (907 kg). The Killer Bee is now Hidalgo's official mascot and includes the Comprehensive Guide to Outdoor Sculpture in Texas.
