If you were born in Nigeria and you're over 26 years old, you must have heard of WILI WILI, SHORT MAN DEVIL, KARASHIKA, OGBANJE etc, these are all names of witches in top Nigerian movies when I was young.

These movies did not only infuse fear into millions of Nigerians , they also gave us the wrong mentality about life.

Because of those movies being produced now, people (Nigerians) that some old women are witches, that eating in the dream means you've been cursed, that when birds make noises at night it means a witch is around, that politics is for unclean people etc.

Do you know kids unconsciously believe what they see in movies and most end up living the life they see in the movie?

I remember watching a movie where the villagers burnt 4 young boys alive for stealing in the market. These movie unconsciously created a lifestyle and a pattern of belief for Nigerians. That is why the act of burning people who steal still continues till today in Nigeria.

I was discussing with @emem yesterday, I told her

Do you know if you take two sets of babies and constantly feed one set with American movies like super man, spider man, James bond etc, some of them, if not all, some will grow up thinking of saving the world and making the world a better place.? the other set who watched some typical Nigerian movies could grow up thinking his neighbors are his problem,he'll believe akwa ibom people are supposed to be house maids and fulani are supposed to be gate men etc.

The movies we watch unconsciously creates a thought pattern for our kids. If we feed them with movies where someone was always trying to safe the world, they'll grow up thinking it's their responsibility to save the world when there is trouble.

If that child grows up watching movies that the characters In the movie care little about their country, movies where citizens give bribe to the police and the police doesn't get caught or persecuted, movies were theives are burnt alive, that child will definitely grow up with that thought pattern and believe.

The movie industry can help in nation building by making better movies that teaches Nigerians to be patriotic and not to carry out jungle justice (villagers burning people up for stealing or for being accused of being a witch ).

Let's start seeing movies that teaches our kids about their rights (this particular case is one that I wish I could magically teach all Nigerians about).

Let's start seeing movies that teaches our young ones to know that politics is not the only way to get rich, movies that teaches our young ones not to pay for electricity they didn't use,Let's start teaching our citizens the need for education through our movies.

Its high time we realized that the movie industry has a huge role to play in Nation building, but this change begins with me.

I believe in the future of Nigeria and I believe in change.

Hmmm, this is deep, very deep. Its nice youre pointing this out, because most Nigerians are selfish minded, they dont consider others in most things we do, americans makes movies and creates scenes which will benefit anyone who sees the movie, thereby making alot of profits in return. Coming to nigeria, money is the driving force, so they just throw anything out there for consumption, which is indirectly affecting our economy. Only few movies has been done on true patrotism. May God help us

No doubt they've been selfish and it has greatly affected the way we think.

God has already helped us by giving us the ability to recognize that there should be a change, what is left is for us to act.

You are absolutely on point with that perspective. Little wonder our movies are not exportable. That's because they do not have the substance that could make it compete with its international counterpart.

Exactly they portray superstitious believes that is backed up with no proof.

Movies that will make you believe you must pay bribe to a police? Not exportable

Hehehe! Some fetish and supersticious believes. They tell u that if while walking on the way u come in contact with cob webs that is an hindrance to your life success. What nonsense, bagadash and ogwash. Is high time we all wake up wit a positive mindset and leave the negativity outside because nothing will change if we dnt change our mindset. Thanks for this man. It really cool.

Thanks, do I'm not the only one thinking in this direction
