How to protect your STEEM DOLLARS and STEEM in your Steemit account

in #minnowsupport7 years ago (edited)

I met someone at the bank today and he asked me why I always talk about Steemit. I briefly told him all he needed to know. I also showed him how to transfer SBD earned from post.

After the whole talk he asked me one question, he said "you just transferred SBD from your account, but no pin or Google authenticator code or password was required to transfer your earnings, doesn't that leave your account exposed?"

This question quickly made me realize how we ignore some things. But there is a solution to that

All you need do is to transfer your STEEM or STEEM DOLLARS to savings.

Transferring your earnings to savings

To transfer your earnings to savings, click on the drop-down arrow next to STEEM or STEEM DOLLARS (SBD) in your wallet, and SELECT "Transfer to Savings"

Transferring your STEEM or STEEM DOLLARS to savings gives your funds a 3 days withdrawal period:meaning when you click to withdraw, it will take 3 days to get it. This provides extra security for your STEEM and STEEM DOLLARS.

Note:
This might not be the best security option you'd love, but this is what is available for now. So keep your account password safe and always lock your phone and your browser with good apps"

People really need to know about this.

only 3 days though. if you were on vacation for a month you would be in for a surprise if some bad guys had access.

Yea true, but I'm sure they'll work on better security options

I'm not hatin just sayin. Nothing is 100% secure also some things are secure right in the open.
