Hello everyone on here, I hope guys are doing pretty well today. Alhamdulillah I’m doing good too. What I’m here today to bring on board is another cultural aspect from my hood once again and it’s all about the dance and the outfit that is using in the dance but a different style of dance and a different outfit. This dance we are to have is called “Jara”, maybe as time goes on I will definitely do my research and come back on here to share it to you all but for now let’s have a feel of the way and manner and how the dance happens. First of all this dance is only experienced in the northern part of Ghana and it is only delivered by Dagombas ( people from the north ) unless maybe they decide to show it to other people outside our own vicinity.
Now about the the stuff that are used in the make is (going from top to bottom ).

Rounded by the head is a piece of cloth sowed to fit the head and some cowries arranged nicely to make it beautiful and also sowed attaches to the piece of cloth and maybe some goat skin folded into a square shape and sowed too and also attached to the cloth maybe at the front part of the cloth just add more beauty to head part of the dressing. Some people may add hand and arm bangles and also hold “Zuli” ( might be either a horse tail or a goats tail) just to make sure that their beauty is not going in vein 😁, some neck beautifying stuff can also be added made by using some cowries and thread.

What is important and can not be missed as part of the dressing is the stuff tied around the waist and it is called “Jara Ligmihi” and it is not an exceptional rather it is also made using the cowries and thread, the rounded thing under the cowries is nothing but a piece of cloth and rugs rapped and compressed into the cloth and shaped to the waist size.

There is no wearing of shirts in this dance but what they wear as trousers is called “kurgu” and the last of it is called “chagla” and as part of the dance we had the other time it is made of shaped flexible zinc and Burgla proof designed into round nice shape. I hope my beloved brothers and sisters will vote me massively.

Thank you
