DO NOT DESPISE LITTLE BEGINNINGS
"Do not despise the day of small things. Men will rejoice when they see the hand of Zerubbabel setting the last stone in place" Zechariah 4: I0
Many of us have started things in our lives that we were never able to complete. People have laughed and scorned and we may have even given up on ourselves and felt like failures simply because what we thought we were building never ever saw the light of day. This may have even made you aim low in other areas of your life so that if you fail again, at last it will not be too obvious and not many people will laugh at you again.
text:Zechariah 4:6-7
he then said to me: “This is the word of Jehovah to Ze·rubʹba·bel: ‘“Not by a military force, nor by power, but by my spirit,” says Jehovah of armies. 7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Ze·rubʹba·bel you will become a level land. And he will bring out the top stone amid shouts of: “How wonderful! How wonderful!Like the oracle of God to you today just like it came to Zerubabbel in Zechariah 4:6-7 this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty." Zerubbabel could feel his heart pounding as the message continued. "What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless itl'The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. What little thing, what dream, what false start, have you despised?Your small church, your tiny business, your hopes of ministry for Christ or a good marriage? Do you despise your failures? Don't. Surrender them to the God who delights in taking human weakness and showing His strength. I need you to take another look at your discarded dreams;this time through God's eyes. The final words of the prophecy jolted him.
This beautiful day, I like to ask you, have you ever heard that great things begin small? Even God did not create the Earth in a day, word by word, day by day, process by process the heavens and the earth came to be. I encourage you to strengthen your hand where you have been weary, because the word of God is saying to you today that your hands have laid the foundation, and your hands will finish it. Take in the challenge again, pick up that abandoned project again, only have it at the back of your mind that with God nothing will be impossible only if you believe. People will mock you while others will cheer you on, but you must look beyond people and see your finishing line.
