The Achievers' Habits [Final Part]

in Project HOPE3 years ago

We have been exploring the necessary habits that one needs to cultivate to make them achieve more. In our last post, we talked about the need for the right company, because of the influence they have on us. We also looked at time management and how to use time effectively in our favour. Then we rounded off by laying emphasis on the power of positive thinking. Here, we shall be taking the final publication of the habits that can make one successful.

The first habit we will talk about here is effective communication skill. There was a time, during my high school days, one of the school's counsellors made a statement that I still remember. She said; "everyone you meet can be a potential helper to you, so talk to them nicely." A lot of people have scared their destiny helpers by simply the way they communicate. It is not a must you must say things the way they are, and neither is it a must that you will speak the way you feel. Of course, everyone has feelings too, and if they were to speak as they feel, the world would be messed up. You need to apply wisdom while communicating.

Your effective communication skills can go a long way to position you on the pathway to success. A friend of mine was once looking for a contractor to handle a business for him. So I was trying to recommend someone who I know could get the job done. But he said; "if it is this lady, then forget it, I cannot work with her." When I asked the reason, it pointed towards lack of good communication. She is talented and very skilful but lacked good manner of approach which costed her a mega business. People tend to see how you speak as your real self. So in order to portray yourself as being good, it has to show in the way you communicate.

The truth is that you need people for success to be achieved, and if this is the case, then you need to work on your communication skills. Trust me, a lot of people are not bothered about your intentions but how you have related it. More so, as regards good and effective communication, you have to learn to listen effectively to get the points. How embarrassing will it be to jump into a talk and at end of the long talk, you discover that you said absolutely different thing from what is necessary? Your listening abilities should be up to par, so as to help you communicate effectively.

The next habit is creativity, originality, and innovation. When you add a touch of creativity to what you do, it will make you to stand out from the rest, and it will make you preferred over others. A lot of people that have achieved success did not do an entirely different thing from others, rather they did a common thing but in a uniquely uncommon way. I remember a friend of mine that started a car wash business in a locality that has plenty people in the same business.

At first, people did not understand how he would succeed in it, but he made his own a bit different from others. He added a barbing salon to the car wash. So when people bring their car, instead of waiting idly for the car to be washed, they would enter for a hair cut. On the other hand, when people come for hair cut, they would also use the same opportunity to wash their car. You see, by that idea, he already took over the business. With time, he also added a mini mart there. He started the same business with others but by his creativity, he was able to stand out and make it big.

To be successful, you have to learn to do things differently and in a better and uncommon way. Give people the reason to seek for you.

The last habit to consider here is "risk taking." If you are not a risk taker, then forget about success. As a matter of fact, you stand the risk or risking more if you do not willingly take risks. Any great step you want to take will have its uncertainty, but it should not stop you from taking the step. It is the risk that you take that takes you to your next level in life. In order to make your risks to count, they have to be taken on time and also be logical, calculated, and knowledge based.
