A few days back, we took the first part of the tips you need to get handy with in order to have a successful business. We have talked about the knowledge of the market but there's an important point we need to discuss and that is the "self" factor. As a business person, the first thing you have to market before you market your product is "yourself".

You may have a very potent/saleable business idea but your manner of presentation is very important. According to this research, it was discovered that many people tend to buy something, not because of the product per se but because of how it was presented and the personality of the person presenting it.

You will agree with me that there is something you have bought before that you did not need but because of the person selling it, you decided to buy it. This is why you need to work on yourself first before approaching a potential customer. It is worthy to note that customers' characters and attitudes do vary and may be very different from what you expect, so you should condition yourself to adapt and blend in with their attitude - after all, you only need to sell your product and not to judge their character.

There are times when you will need a high level of diplomacy to scale through a degree of marketing. You'd be surprised to know that some people can actually ignore a product, not because the product is not good but because the seller's character negates their decision to buy it.

More than we may think, personality goes a long way to influence decision process and that happens in marketing too. In marketing, there is what is referred as "perspective". This simply refers to how a consumer interprets information relating to products in order to drive meaning from them. A popular Human Psychologist, Seymor Smith, during the mid 20th century, revealed that perspective, as a psychological process can be affected by attitude, habits, beliefs. If this is so, then in the process of marketing, your personality plays a vital role.

The sustenance of any business lies principally in the marketing prowess utilized in the business. There are many marketing skills you need to employ per time for each of your prospects. For example, online marketing may not be effective when you are targeting people from the hinterlands. The simple reason is, those that will need the product may not be online to see the marketing advert. In this case, you may consider word-of-mouth marketing.

In word-of-mouth marketing, you should understand that your words should tally with your attitude so as to effectively influence the person's decision process in your favour. Always know this; you may not have a second chance to create a wowing first impression, so try to make the first impression count.

I seriously like the point you raised, there is no need going into sales if you are the type that likes to judge others, it is better to either work on yourself or completely stay away from that department.

Exactly buddy, there is no need to judge people because you may end up losing them as customers.
