Having Unity Of Purpose

in Project HOPE5 years ago

When I was much younger, I learnt a particular lesson that I have kept reflecting on: we normally went out into the bush to hunt for Bush meat (grasscutter). Most times, what we did was to block one of the two entrances to the holes dug by the grasscutters and poke the other hole with sticks. At this point, the bush meats will be forced to run out of the hole (most times in multiples). If you try to chase all of them at the same time, you would end up catching absolutely nothing. However, when you focus your attention on one, the chance of catching it becomes increased. In the same way, when you maintain singleness of purpose, it will be easier for you to achieve your goal.

There is no point in trying to put all your fingers into your hands at once. When you have many things to do at the same time, your propensity to be distracted becomes high and you may end up not perfecting on anyone. Imagine someone learning how to fly an airplane and how to sail a submarine at the same time, he will not master anyone because of divided attention.

When you set out to fulfill a goal, let it give you a sense of mission and let your focus be single and undivided. This will help you to channel your entire energy and put in your possible best towards it. You cannot be outstanding while running on two lanes at the same time. You need to locate the particular line of action you need to channel your energy towards and give it all it takes.

I remember a friend of mine who started selling a particular line of product - footwear, a while ago. Even when others advised him to change or to add other things, his focus did not shift. Today, he does not only sell footwear but he produces them and has retail outlets all over the country. This is as a result of keeping to his goal and following it with singleness of heart and of purpose.

Hopping from one place to another or from one goal to another or from one line of business to another may cost you your growth and may ultimately hamper it. Have you even imagined transplanting a seedling plant from one pot to another daily? A point may come when the plant will die or become stunted. In the same way, lack of focus causes stunted growth. Obviously, challenges may come at the start of the goal but if you hold on and refuse to shift your focus, you will see more reasons to continue to follow after the goal.

Winners are not only those that never lost any battle but they include those that keep going without quitting even when they had failed or fallen initially. To have maximum purpose in life, you should have the understanding that you are not meant to do everything even though they may be expedient for you. You are not mandated to follow a particular trend because someone is doing the same. Remember, if you run in another person's track, you may end up being disqualified.

Peace on y'all

Good day every one.
Everyone is just trying to accomplish something big, well, it's fine, but u need to set your goals high enough to inspire you and low enough to encourage you.
Thanks for the post.

Yes, you need to set a goal that will give you a sense of purpose and then focus on it. Thanks buddy

Vision and planning is the basis of all business, where and how to get there must be strictly structured, for an excellent achievement.

Hi @samminator

Finally I've managed to find some time to catch up with previously bookmarked posts :)
(not even sure if you will still check comment section of this post, especially since it's quite "old" already)

You already sound like a dreamer hahaha :)

When you have many things to do at the same time, your propensity to be distracted becomes high and you may end up not perfecting on anyone.

I would fully agree on that with you. I've learned that so called "multitasking" is nothing more than "multiswitching" and it surely is not an efficient way of doing things. At the end of the day - we delute our time and energy and often end up feeling like we've hardly done anything. Feeling frustrated about it.

Enjoy your monday. Hope you do not hate mondays :)
Yours, Piotr

I absolutely agree with you. Focusing on many things at the same time will make one to lose efficiency in all of them.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment buddy.

Hahahaha. This reminded me of what a friend said that weekends should be extended to Monday 🤣🤣

Stay safe buddy

Remember, if you run in another person's track, you may end up being disqualified.

Woah!!! Hahahahaha, it is quite funny but it is very true. We should all follow our path and if we are persistent we would eventually achieve success.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful article with us @samminator

That's the truth bro. We should try to stick to our own path and give it all it takes.
Thanks baba @menoski

Hello @samminator!
Good examples that you present to us. You have to keep the goal well defined and work with passion to get there without deviating. Greetings!

Today, he does not only sell footwear but he produces them and has retail outlets all over the country.

Perfect example. Same thing i have experienced in past. You have to focus on one thing first with proper and with your full power and this way you will achieve your goal.

Exactly, focusing helps to eliminate unnecessary distractions. Thanks a lot for coming around buddy

Yeah, having multiple purpose, divides your energy and at the end you might be unable to achieve success in any of your purposes, that's why it is 100% advisable we have only one purpose. Well said @luckyali

thank you both of you my friends ♥

We all know together we stand strong divided we fall down. We need to be in a community so that we can grow faster and help others to grow faster.

together we stand divided we fall

That's a nice analogy. Thanks a lot for the comment buddy

I completely agree, I believe keeping the focus on one particular thing, developing it, and getting better at it is way better than spread all the energy and hard work on various things which as you said could lead to its failure or it getting stunned and no further progress.

Nice read, thanks for sharing!

That's correct. Keeping your focus will make you to channel your energy aright. Thanks a lot buddy
