Human Being Extraordinaire, An Introduction
Introducing Samantha Leigh:
Children’s book author in the making, poet resting on her laurels, singer and songwriter currently teaching herself piano, violin, and ukulele, travel junkie, space nerd, animal lover, and human being extraordinaire!
I’ve stumbled into the magical world of Steemit thanks to my lovely colleague and partner in crime (she’s a life and relationship coach and I oversee her creative and editorial needs) Reema Kumar. I am so excited to dig into the brain power of this community.
I love a lot of things and so will likely write about a lot of different things. I love philosophical questions — my all-time favorite, and what ultimately made me a Trekkie, is “What does it mean to be human?” Maybe I’ll write about that! (Although if Roddenberry hasn’t answered that question yet after so many episodes, I’m not sure how much light I can shed on the subject, but I can try!)
I love plants and have a garden of about 500 flowers, herbs, veggies, berries, and more! I also love animals of all shapes, textures, and sizes and currently have a Bearded Dragon — Captain Nelly Baelfire who is about two years old. Maybe I’ll write about this!
I have hyper-sensory sensitivity and have had to learn many self-care coping mechanisms to navigate the VERY-LOUD-VERY-BRIGHT-VERY-BUSY wonderful world that we live in. Self-care is undervalued in American society and it was never taught to me, so I think it would be valuable to write about what I have learned that has worked for me.
I’m writing a pirate adventure series for 1st or 2nd grade readers this year. I’m in the editing phase of book one and halfway through the creation phase of book two. I hope to have twelve stories completed by the end of 2018 and start publishing in 2019. If you are an author or are trying to be I’d love to talk to you!
What would you like me to write about first? If you give me a philosophical question in the comments I’ll write an article in response!

Hi and thank you! I've been writing creatively since 3rd grade. I've had poems published but this is the first fiction series I've worked on. It's so much fun to write for kids because I'm free to be ridiculous :) it's a refreshing feeling.

Peter Pan is one of my favorite stories. I'm definitely going for a Lost Boys + Jack Sparrow vibe with my pirate Captain! She's spunky and bizarre and I'm having a blast getting to know her. What's your favorite part of pirate stories?
The best part for me is the plots and twists at the end once the treasure is almost at hand, its who will betray who, who will stay loyal or who will switch sides.
