Exciting time on Day 1 of my Steemit Promo Campaign.
One of the big opportunities Africa should not let go by is Steemit. Steemit has the potential to turn African people’s lives around financially especially considering many live below the poverty line. The stories from the different blogs of African users are a testimony to this.
Creating awareness
I have decided to embark on a campaign of creating awareness of Steemit here in Uganda to show people the opportunity they can take advantage of on internet to lift them from poverty.
Today was an exciting day as I started out my Steemit Promo campaign, starting with my very own town Mukono, located in the Central part of Uganda. There are businesses running everywhere across the streets here, dealing in all sorts of goods and services. Talk of restaurants, driving schools, offices, saloons, boutiques among others. This made it easy for me to reach people most of whom were employees of the businesses I went in.
One of the businesses I approached was of Mobile phone repairs. I had just talked to these two gentlemen about Steemit and since they are already in the Tech industry, they were delighted to hear about it. I left them signing up.
This is their customer whose attention I got while explaining Steemit to them. She promised to call me for further details.
I talked to many other people about Steemit, showing them how it works as a social network platform though it’s different from the other platforms they use as it pays for writing. This is very well laid out on the flier I shared with them. As you can see in my flier image below here.
People got interested especially with the part of earning. There were many questions they asked, most of them to do with withdrawing and I had to get into detail. Explaining how you convert Steem or Steem Dollars to bitcoin, and then transfer to mobile money. For some who had no idea about cryptocurrency, this was so much to take in, so I gave them my contact which is on the flier for them to call me to talk more.
I loved the engagement. I had taken a while not having the audience the people I talked to gave me.
My target is to spread Steemit to as many people as I can. This will enable people realise the time they have been losing while on internet without getting paid.
