The History of Sally Switchblade

Hey there Steemit! I wanted to include a little background of my music and the projects I have been in.

I started playing bass at age 14 (I am now 28). I had to have a five string bass. I played that thing til my fingers bled. Back then, I was mostly into metal like Kittie and all sorts of punk rock like Anti-Flag, NOFX, The Distillers, Social Distortion etc... I took three or four music lessons then decided to truck it on my own. I consider myself a mediocre musician. I don't do intricate solos and I actually can't read music or tab very well. I know a few chords.
When I was 15, I moved from my home in Iowa to a small town in Missouri and met a few folks that played music. We started a band called Layman's Terms.

We played two shows... (Ignore the guy in the fedora... he wasn't in the band.)

After that, I was in two projects. A few metal/rock bands. One was called Devistation Overdrive and the other was Bi-Polar Bears. I can't seem to find any old pictures of these bands. I played bass and wrote songs/sang. I also started learning how to play guitar with the help of my friend @rockchickjen.

When I went off to college, my music interests did not change but became more broad. I started writing my own stuff beginning with my song "Black Widow". At this time I was also listening to a lot of psychobilly music and fell in love. I created the stage name Psycho Sally Switchblade and had dreams of starting a psychobilly band called "Psycho Sally and the Switchblades". I never really started the whole band, and shortened the name to just Sally Switchblade.

Here is my first ever youtube post of my song "Black Widow" seven years ago. Yes... I was a bit strange and nervous with my first post... but the song is the main focus here. haha.

I played at a lot of bars and other events solo for many years. I did an interview with The Dead Timez magazine a few years back and even had the opportunity to play with some amazing bands.

In between, I was part of an amazing all girl band by the name of Motorpanties. This was probably my favorite band. Rock and roll, a little punk rock, and some badass women. I had some amazing opportunities with these women playing at Chuck Berry's Duck Room in St. Louis Missouri and being featured on The Mystery Hour - a late night show filmed at the Gilloiz in Springfield MO. I had a lot of fun with this band. We had a lot of different styles and loved bringing them all together. The band was short-lived and only we only played for a few very memorable months.
