Next time you visit a beach be sure to take home a bag of rubbish - even if you did not leave any!

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Even on remote beaches the amount of plastic rubbish that is left at low tide is shocking. In just a small area I managed to collect a bag full of hazardous plastic material. If not removed this can and does end up in the bellies of whales, dolphins and various fish and slowly kills them.
Please think of the creatures of our oceans before ignoring a plastic bag blown away on the wind. Take rubbish home - even if you didn't drop it.

Totally agree with you. I spend a lot of time walking on beaches and the amount of rubbish that's left on them is diabolical, from dog poop (they are allowed on he beach during winter to pretty much everything you can imagine. When I lived on the coast in the Netherlands we used to collect everything from aerosol cans to pretty much everything you can think of, that was thrown off ships over and above what the beach goers left.

Thanks and well done! I applaud your good work.

I live on the central coast of California and at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, they have quite a large exhibit that addresses plastic in the ocean. The have a giant plexiglass case full of what had been pulled out of the local waters. There are also massive sculptures made by local artists who had recycled / repurposed some of the plastic.

I create patterns out of the photos I take and thought I would see what I could do with some pics of the displays here. My goal is to use these images to raise awareness of this important issue. Here is one of the results of my efforts...I call it Go Green! :)

That is really beautiful. Well done to you and everyone working to make our oceans cleaner!

I couldn't even get a good picture of the sunrise in the desert due to the people taking so much trash out there to dump it and it blowing everywhere. 😤😡😢

That's terrible.
