Nemoptera bipennis

This beautiful insect is from the family Nemopteridae or spoonwings. It is found in Spain, Portugal and France. I remember being quite overcome with their beauty the first time I ever saw one.

I have up to a dozen at a time feeding on these flowers sometimes. Quite bewildering they are just magical!

Aren't they precious? So light and delicate but a big munching head - will try and get a close up of that for you! It is crazy! lol
