Should one invest in Memecoins?

Good day, crypto enthusiasts. I hope everyone reading this is in good health. If you pay attention in the crypto space, you will notice that the question "is it good to invest in meme coins?" is a very common question in crypto forums, and we always get diverse feedback from experts and crypto enthusiasts on their stance with regards to those memecoins. I also want to write something about this question, but you may not know my stance on this question, as I am not going to be straight forward as I am still a learner, but I believe you will gain something from it. My believe is that if you have enough knowledge in the crypto space, you can get a better return on investment.That is why research is very good in the crypto space.

Cryptocurrencies are usually driven by the community, which is made up of the team and the users. The evolution of memecoins nowadays has also indicated how the support of influencers can also drive the values of a crypto token or coin. When you observe the trend of the various memecoins like Shib, Doge, FLOKI, etc., you will realize that their growth is mainly organic as they grow by their own efforts. They are mostly deflationary tokens and they are geared by influencers' support as compared to the normal tokens and coins, which depend highly on the developer team and user community efforts.

As you can see, memecoins usually start with airdrops, and it is rare to see a memecoin start with an ICO. This demonstrates that their development is primarily organic, which means that the team does not have to put as much effort into developing the token based on a use case, and less emphasis is placed on expanding the project to new markets, as is done with coins that are based on real-world projects.A majority of the current memecoins are created purposefully to propagate a particular meme or joke. DOGE is believed to be the first memecoin and it was themed around a popular Doge Meme. Now it is popular in the crypto space with the help of Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. Most of the other memecoins are built on popular memes and jokes.

The question as to whether we should or should not invest in memecoins demands a yes or no answer, but it will be unfair to answer it that way. Research should be your number one tool in this crypto era. That is why I like this trending term in the crypto space, "Do Your Own Research." It tells us to do our own research before venturing into any form of investment. So, instead of asking whether to invest in memecoins or not, do some research on the particular token and it will be enough to make your decision. Nowadays, a project can start as a memecoin and its later development can create use cases for it.

The research should be based on whether the token is deflationary or inflationary. Deflationary in that, the net circulation of the token decreases with time and vice versa for inflationary tokens. When you get to know this, some in-depth research should also be done on the tokenomics of the project, which is to say, the economic models of the project as lined up by the developer team. Another important thing you should look out for should be the blockchain network on which the project runs, and whether it is scalable, dectralized, secure and accessible by you. Another important thing to research should be the developer team. With all these, I believe it will give a hint as to whether the token is good to invest in.

We must also consider our investment plan, whether it be a long-term investment or a short-term investment. It is also very important to consider the risk management strategies, especially the 1% rule, the risk raward ratio, and take profit and stop loss.
