On this occasion I came back again with a design tutorial using Inkscape software. The tutorial I will share on this occasion is how to create a logo from a letter. As usual before we get into the tutorial session, I want to invite you first to know what is inkscape? to make it easier for us to use this software.

Inkscape is an open source software that is almost equivalent to corel draw, although not as famous as the corel draw itself. But this software already meets the standard XML, SVG and inkscape CSS can also run on windows operating system, so this graphic device is really friendly with you who have talent graphic designer. The main goal of inkscape is presented is to be one of the current cutting-edge graphics tools.

How to design a logo with a letter using Inkscape Software

In the first step, we will set the workspace in Inkscape, click the file in the menu bar, select document properties, uncheck show page border on the document properties command screen and make sure all units are in pixel unit. Next click vie on the menu bar also select custom, click view again select zoom and zoom 1: 1. Finally click the align and distribute object button to open the object settings screen, and click fill and stroke button to open the color and lighting settings screen on the object we will create.

The second step, click the create and edit text object button, then type one letter that will be used as the main object for logo design, here I choose the letter "h" because I try to create a logo for herbal products, and this is just an example in the tutorial this is not the actual herbal product logo. Next click the (T) button on the menu bar to select the desired style font and then click apply. for setting the size of the text, click on the text, then drag and stretch the arrow on the top corner or bottom and do not forget to hold down the SHIFT and CTRL keys on the keyboard, to balance the size. Next click the path on the menu bar select the object to path, last select or change the color of what you like.

The third step, create an herbal icon or leaf shape, click on the bottom of the text and then form like a leaf, then press enter, then adjust the shape using the edit paths by nodes tool, it will come out some point and angle that can be moved to adjust the size and shape. if it is finished place the object in the shape of the leaf at the bottom of the text.

The fourth step gives the green color on the leaf object, then go to the color settings screen or the fill and stroke command screen, click the stroke paint column then click the no paint button marked with a cross (x).

The fifth step, right click on the leaf object and select duplicate. Next select the duplicate object, hold SHIFT on the keyboard and select the text object, click the path on the menu bar and select the difference, then click on the text object only, go to the menu bar click the path and select the break a part, then the text will be divided into several pieces .

for the sixth step, click the text object on the bottom left side, then delete it. Next move the text section to the right side down to the side or elsewhere, then down a little leaf-shaped object earlier, to give space and will look like there is a section that is cut off. After that put back the text that we moved earlier and give the distance as well.

In the seventh step, select the top text then hold SHIFT on the keyboard and select the text at the bottom, go to the path in the menu bar and select union, then the text will be unified and still have the distance with the leaf object earlier. Next right click on the leaf object select duplicate, give different color and size to the original object, so now we have two leaf object with different color and size. We continue, Right click on small leaf object and select duplicate, then hold SHIFT on keyboard select text object, go to path and select difference. Finally select the text object only, then click the path on the menu bar and select Inset.

For the eighth step, right click on the text select duplicate as well, and change the color to dark green and click the lower selection to bottom button. Then change the original text color to light green. then go to the color settings screen or fill and stroke command screen, click fill button and click the radial gradients button, press G on the keyboard to get the gradient editor line. Move the line to the bottom left corner, then double click on the line to add the gradient point and choose the yellowish green color.

Step the ninth, group or select all objects, then click the group button on the menu bar. After that click the create circle button on the tool bar and create a circle object and give the color contrast with the logo color. Then right click on the circle object and select duplicate, then go to fill and stroke command screen select stroke style column and fill in stroke width column 4 pixel, then click path on menu bar and select inset, do it repeatedly until three or five times , so that there appears to be a distance with the original object circle.

Next, still the ninth step, click the stroke pain column select the linear gradient on the color settings screen, press G on the keyboard, it will exit the gradient editor line add some dots to the color settings, here I add seven dots with green and white are crossed.

For the tenth step, select all circle objects then click the group button on the menu bar, then click the SHIFT object circle on the keyboard and select the logo we have designed, then click center on vertical and horizontal axis button, on the command screen or the settings screen align and distribute object. last select all objects and groups...

The last step, save the object into a file, there are two ways to save files on inkscape software.
First, click the file on the menu bar select bitmap export, then click browse button then type the file name click save and click export.

The second way is to click the file also on the menu bar, select Save As then type the file name and select the file format, here are available several file format options, but still I suggest to save in SVG format one of them, to facilitate us to re-edit the file .
