The group 3MA has just launched a new musical adventure with the album Anarouz, and which testifies to the magnificent complicity between the artist from Agadir Driss El Maloumi, the Malian Ballaké Sissoko and the Malgache Rajery. 3MA is the meeting of three virtuosos of string instruments emblematic of three African countries, but it is also that of generous artists who share the same passion, a reciprocal listening and a beautiful friendship.

In 2006, the meeting of the Malian magician of kora Ballaké Sissoko, the Moroccan master of the oud Driss El Maloumi and the Malagasy prince of the valiha Rajery could, like so many others, stop after a handful of concerts and a recording memory. But the miraculous vibration that arose when they started playing together still resonates today. Guided by the pleasure of an exceptional musical and human exchange, their reunion is regular and always happy. They punctuate individual paths of great wealth. The Moroccan musician from Agadir, Driss El Maloumi, trained in classical Arabic and Western music. Known in the world of oud enthusiasts as one of the best contemporary instrumentalists, he is also director of the Agadir Conservatory and a pillar for 20 years of Jordi Savall's Hespèrion XXI ensemble in which his 3MA friends regularly participate.

Centuries of musical tradition run through the fingers of Ballaké Sissoko. His knowledge of the Mandingo tradition is complete, but he has developed a deep knowledge of improvisation. These qualities allow him spectacular jousting with musicians with varied and demanding aesthetics such as the Italian pianist Ludovic Einaudi, the percussionist of Iranian origin Keyvan Chemirani or the cellist Vincent Segal.

In 2017 the Malagasy Valiha player, Rajery, counts 37 years of Valiha, 35 years of stage and 25 years of international career, crowned in 2002 by a price RFI Musics. This tubular harp specialist is very active in Madagascar where he has created a music festival and is involved in education, music therapy and regularly performs in Europe.

A decade after the beginning of 3MA, this new album is the witness of their magnificent complicity and the maturity of their exchanges. On two tracks, percussionist Khalid Kouhen adds the delicate pulsations of his urdu percussion. On two other compositions resound the voices of Rajery, Driss and Ballaké and the majestic strings. The rest of the time, only the strings are magic. Each piece is the result of a unique alchemy, which is difficult to detail the individual part. The stamps of kora, oud and valiha do not seek to highlight their identity but develop a common language. If we do not lose sight of the rich traditions of which Ballaké Sissoko, Driss El Maloumi and Rajery are symbols, we especially hear the shared message of 3MA. They oppose sweet and life-giving harmonies to the violence of the world, through vital energy and universal poetry.
