Contest: my Career choice- Word Smith, Editor

It started with a task of circling articles in then incomprehensible passages but after I finally started to make sense of the words, I was hooked and still am. I am most grateful to my parents for starting me on such a fascinating journey. I hope parents everywhere follow in their footsteps and lay off the tv a few nights a week to flip through the great smelling pages.

I seemed to have an innate sense for finding the right word groups to make any piece delightful and worth your time.
The difficulty was in convincing my people that a career in publishing and editing was a viable one for anyone's future. It was harrowing but I like to think I've recovered quite well. My love for words has anchored me in times when I might have strayed for boredom.
Copy editing is truly fulfilling. I believe we're up there, right next to teachers who are doing such great stuff. It's quite a shame that these two careers ain't as lauded as they should be due to our culture and choice of entertainment. It seems to me that, in Ghana, most people only read as part of their coursework and opening a book for enjoyment is considered strange.
In an effort to bridge the gap and set that way of thinking on its ass, my friends and I decided to host an online book club. We couldn't go on without having tried to have others experience books and all its greatness.

I recently got paid for the very first time since I started editing. I've been doing free stuff for a while and It felt great to finally have something as tangible as money for all my efforts.
