What is ARK?
ARK is an ecosystem meant for cryptocurrency mass adoption. This is to be done by focusing on developing a fast secure core technology and practical services for real people.

What problem is ARK trying to tackle?
Despite the hype surrounding cryptocurrency, their benefits have yet to be demonstrated, especially when thinking about the average consumer. Blockchain is still hard to utilize and is difficult to develop on.
There are several blockchains [ecosystems] that have been created for different purposes, none of which can ‘speak’ to each other, which further limits the growth of the blockchain. (Lisk, Bitcoin, Ethereum). This is limiting to the cryptocurrency markets (value of cryptocurrencies is currently isolated), as one has to own a specific cryptocurrency in order to buy in to the DApp.

How will ARK achieve it’s goals?
The first technology that ARK intends on introducing is Smart Bridge. This bridges together useful and proprietary blockchains, therefore allowing for communication between bridged blockchains eg. bitcoin and ethereum. This would mean that if an event or a transaction took place in a bitcoin based network for instance, it would trigger an instance in an Ethereum network.

Secondly, in order to resolve the difficulty of ‘coding’ and developing blockchain applications, ARK intends on allowing the ability to code using multiple languages eg. javascript, python, C++.

Thirdly, to increase the potential for using ARK for multiple scenarios, they will integrate with the InterPlanetary File System and the Interplanetary Database. The former will allow ARK to host decentralized media services such as live streaming, audio and video without the blockchain bloat the plagues other chains as a result of large amounts of data. The latter will facilitate effective data management.

Finally, ARK intends on reaching more users by facilitating off-chain transactions using physical cards and modular point of sale systems.

Team: This is an excellent team with individuals who have experience in both the cryptosphere and in other applications. The founder (François-Xavier Thoorens) was previously a core developer for Lisk, and was scientific officer for the European Union architecting the use of satellite observation for maritime surveillance.
