My plant "Plectranthus amboinicus"
A few days ago I noticed that my oregano plant (Plectranthus amboinicus) was wilting, was not growing and the color of its leaves was changing. For this reason I decided to transplant it into a larger container (I made some holes for it to have a good drainage), I added fertilized soil and put it in a place with semi-shade so that its leaves maintain their beautiful color.
This is a medicinal plant native to Africa, which can reach up to 1 m in height, its aroma is very similar to that of common oregano. In my country Venezuela is known as Oregano Orejón while, in other countries, it is known as: French oregano, Mexican mint, Indian oregano, witch oregano, Cuban oregano, etc. This plant is very useful, in addition to being a medicinal plant, it is also used as a culinary herb to flavor several dishes and has many health benefits, including:
- Helps to expel kidney stones.
- Excellent anti-inflammatory.
- Regulates digestive processes.
- Controls the sugar level.
- It is excellent for healing wounds.
- It is a great expectorant.
- Effective in relieving earaches.
- Improves blood circulation.
Once the plant was transplanted, I could see that the color of its leaves changed and that it is growing. Every day my son irrigates it abundantly, in order to keep the soil moist, but we must avoid waterlogging.
It usually grows very quickly in pots or directly in the ground and its reproduction can be through cuttings, seeds and even with its leaves.
A very important fact is that this plant grows in poor soils, that is, it is not necessary to fertilize the land too much.
It is very important to eliminate the weeds that are created around this and any plant, since they absorb all the nutrients and resources.
Lack of water as well as excess can damage the plant.
This plant is not usually affected pests. In fact, it is used as a repellent of various pests such as ants.
very nice, congrats.. ive tried growing oregano, it didnt grow so well.. enjoy - good medicine!
Planting is very simple and grows fast. Be sure to try planting this plant.
