Always listen to yourself...but speak kindly
We need to check ourselves periodically to make sure that what we are hearing on a day to day basis is kindness and positivity. It is the foundation of my new life...I now feel like I can combat anything negative that comes into my head. I have the power!
It should sound like a pleasant, loving voice. It should be kind and soft as if you are speaking to a new friend that truly makes you happy. You should speak internally as though you love yourself unconditionally. Speak with love and compassion when you fail or fall. Let no negative thoughts from others come into your mind. Be your own cheerleader!
Check out this little video by Jake Ducey...put a "do not disturb" sign on your mind.
Since I have adopted this new way of being and a positive internal talk, my life has improved tenfold. I speak kindly in my mind and I talk to my husband the same way. I talk to my special needs clients in a soft tone. I speak to my kids with love.
It takes practice but loving kindness towards yourself will make you more loving towards others.
People will react differently when you say out loud "Oh well Shannon. It's gonna be okay. Try something different next time. You can do this." It sends a better message to others when they don't hear this"Why are you so stupid and why are you doing this wrong?"
It only took a few weeks of changing my internal dialog from negative to positive. I used many positive brainwashing techniques to stay focused on the task. I now emulate positivity. Even my husband has changed and speaks calmly and lovingly. It really works.
We need to try other things in life when mental health issues are alive and well and the doctors and meds aren't helping. Talking positively has been the start for me. It has blossomed into all areas of my life and I no longer have panic attacks.
