Very late Thursday streaming!

in #aer9 years ago

This one is from last Thursday! A lot of stuff happened that prevented solid work on it so it ended up getting dragged out for the entire week! And then I didn't stream this Thursday because other stuff had to happen. But we got there eventually! In this one I finish off High and continue working on Red. Digits are my nemesis (yes I have several of them).

Is this the process video for the final art? If it is, then very late is right! Haha! The thought you put into all your art is just so noteworthy. Because of the 2D nature of the image, even though the subject is 3D, people don't often put that much emphasis on the details that would otherwise go unseen. It's just so great that there are still people who complete the art even when the details would be hidden from view.

That's the kind of attribute why I fully believe in your potential, mate! Thank you again for the wonderful artwork! We truly appreciate it :'D

^_^

It's "very late" because I usually finish editing these process videos a couple of days after streaming. As mentioned for various reasons this one took a week XD

And yep also very late as it shows me finishing off that piece for you right at the beginning XD

No worries, better late than ... well, I usually follow it with "pregnant" but yeah, you get it haha! I hope you've been trying to lay off coffee these days. Life can get busy sometimes, but coffee is not the answer, my friend.

The coffee is it's usual clear and present danger. But it's 1-2 a day not 6 (not that I ever got over 3 at a stretch, back in uni days it wasn't uncommon for J and friends to down 6+ coffees per day in lieu of sleep when working on assignments and coming down from that was pretty messy D:)

I used to be like that. Downing coffee like it was water. It really messed me up in the long run. That's why when I quit cold turkey, the withdrawal was, shall we say, a bitch. Pardon my Francais.

I don't down it like water D:

Yeh I've done the withdrawals a couple of times. But if you were downing it like water yours would have been as bad as J's when he was at uni and he and the crew drank 6+ cups of real coffee (not the instant stuff) each in lieu of sleeping when they had assignments and stuff to work on and exams to study for.

When he decided to cut the coffee back to 1-2 cups or less after assessment period was over, well it wasn't pretty.

You poor sod.

I've managed to cut coffee off completely :D And yeah, it did start off as a means for me to accomplish stuff back when I was in college haha! It wasn't a pretty sight, but it can be accomplished. Will power :D

Okay I'm up to the 3d modelling part and I really just don't understand how you even... Like what is going on here :O

LoL! XD

I'm making it so I can animate this model later :)

The green stuff you're putting on the foot, not sure what you're doing there. Seems like someone could write a program to automate that?

There is already an autopo thing in that app so it's doable to some value of doable. It seems to only work for relatively basic models (it gets confused around thin membrane areas even when doing manually and this model and the others like it will have a lot of them) and I don't think it handles holes very well or at all (none of the models I make in here are closed, there's a gap for the eyes).

I don't software dev so I don't know how hard or otherwise it is to do, I'd be quite happy if it could autopo everything I do into nice clean animatable meshes, I hate retopo XD In the meantime I'm stuck doing it by hand, but at least I'm relatively quick with 3d Coat, it takes me a lot longer in Blender!

Nice foot work there ryivhnn

Thanks! ^_^ I was pleasantly surprised that the toes worked out so well :O kept checking to see if I'd somehow missed something but everything seems to be all right. With luck the fingers won't be too much more difficult. I really want to paint XD

Things are coming along nicely! Checking out some tutorials on this 3d Coat program you are using right now. Haven't branched out with the 3d programs and I really should. Was the learning curb hard with this program do you feel. It seems similar to z-brush - do you know if it imports z-brush file models easily?

I haven't used ZBrush (their fault for trying to pass off Sculptris as a trial version, I've used Sculptris and know from Youtube videos that the only thing they have in common is the dynatopo, and lucky or perhaps unlucky for them I cba pirating it just to try it out) so can't compare.

I found 3dc pretty easy to pick up (compared to Blender which took me literal years). Still not pro with it but slowly getting better. I originally got it for retopo and painting, but have also been using it for sculpting as I find the feel is better than Blender (only in feel, I think the dynatopo sculpting is comparable and I find moving around in Blender is easier, but because the brush doesn't angle with the surface I occasionally get confused).
