Wednesday Walk on the Beach
Wednesday Walk on the Beach
Finally the weather forecast called for a clear Wednesday morning. So I figured that it would be a good opportunity to do a Wednesday walk at sunrise at the ocean. My closest access to the beach is the Canaveral National Seashore. It's a federal park located adjacent to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuse and Kennedy Space Center. There are miles of sandy uncrowded ocean beach. One end of the beach is designated as clothing optional if you are so inclined.
I arrived at the beach about 20 minutes before sunrise. The sky was beginning to lighten already.

It was high tide and the surf was choppy.

Here's an abandoned sand castle that was slowly being reclaimed by the sea.

Even on the clearest mornings, the sun's warming rays heat up the water surface form a layer of clouds at the horizon.

As the sun breaks above the horizon the sky above lights up with reds, oranges and yellows.

Now a little higher, the sun appears like a fire dragon.

After sunrise sea birds take to the air and surf for their morning meal.
First spotted was a solitary pelican

WOW you got some amazing shots on your walk the glorious display of nature for sunrise and some cool birds as well what a great way to start the day
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip
Thank you for your comments and tip! If it didn't mean getting up so early I'd do it more often!
MOst welcome and i am lucky I am used to getting up early so its easy for me on weekends :)
That's some beautiful colours of the Sun! I always wondered as child if the castles that I built would survive the night! Now I know! Such a busy time before the Sun rises and the people come out!
It's hard to find that perfect spot to build your castle. The good wet sand is almost certain to get washed away when the tide comes in! Thank you for your comments!
Fantastic photos from your walk! Great post and congrats on the @ocd nomination!

Awesome shots! I really love the first one... the path that leads to a sunset beach! Gotta love it

Thank you for your comments! I like that shot as well!
This is so beautiful, I have more than one fav from your walk. My favorite hour to watch the sky when it turns all in pastels. But other beautiful thing that happens before, we always get that true spectacle of the sun shining. Nature is so beautiful. This photoshoot is amazing.
Thank you for your wonderful comments! It's a great time and place to recharge your energy!
That such a majestic view! I love all your photos especially the sunrise, it just looks so epic. Thank you for sharing this with us and have a great week ahead!

Wicked gorgeousness, and well worth getting up early for! Beautifully done, Roger!
Thank you Traci! Sunrise is way to early up in NH, but I would still like to catch a few when I'm up There.
@rwedegis, what a great walk and you caught some amazing photos of the sunset. Cool.
Thank you for your comments!
I am often up around sunrise, but it is so much nicer when you can catch that beautiful time of day on the beach! Love that last shot with the sun coming up behind the clouds. Now I really have some beach envy! Hoping I can make it down to Florida for at least a long weekend this year to get my toes in the sand!
Thank you for your comments! I always find that being by the ocean is so energizing!
