Untitled - Joseph Cornell
Cornel Joseph (English Joseph Cornell, December 24, 1903, New York - December 29, 1972, ibid.) - American artist, sculptor, avant-garde filmmaker.
Widespread fame for Joseph Cornell came after the collective exhibition "The Art of Assembly" in the New York Museum of Modern Art (1961), where his nostalgic boxes resembling children's "secrets" were given a separate room, and a personal exhibition in the gallery of Solomon Guggenheim (1967) . His work has found a response in the new wave of the New York avant-garde. Cornel once said about his work: "Boxes become poetic theater, productions, where elements of children's games are transformed."
